I've heard about some guys doing their own paint fill. I just bought a new Yes Sophia putter and want to play with the paint fill. I also own a Tiffany and want to change the paint fill on it also. So, how do you guys do it. I honestly don't even know where to begin. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I use a gel based paint stripper to clean out the old paint fill. Then rinse and clean off with a little rubbing alcohol. For the new paint fill, I use a needle applicator. The paint that I use is Tamiya, you can get it at most hobby shops. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I can get quite a bit more verbose. It's actually a pretty simple process.

I used some acetone on a toothpick and a hobbie knife to remove the old paint then used Testors Enamel model paint on a toothpick to put in the new paint... let it dry for a little bit and then some acetone on a paper towel to clean up the excess.

Thanks for your reply. That all sounds pretty easy. Does the new paint hold up pretty well??

As long as you get things really clean before painting and use a quality paint, you should be just fine. Mine have all held up very well.

A buddy of mine redoes the script on the bottom of his old Ping's from time to time. He uses red nail polish. Seems to hold up pretty well, don't know if he top coats it with anything.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Pardon me for hijacking your thread. Anyone ever do any touchup or coloring on their golf bag? And know what to use? I am torn between the new Mizuno cart bags. I like the all white, yet not the black trim, would like this in their blue. The blue(with white) bag has too much blue. I love their staff bags, yet do not want a staff bag. Was wondering if there was a way I can recolor the trim on  their white bag. Just a thought.

I wouldn't do that. I can see any paint used being uneven, running, not being water proof, flaking off and generally looking bad.

Having said that, I just painted the headcover for my G10 driver. I spray painted it with flat black craft paint then with black barbecue paint. That was the ugliest headcover I've ever seen. Even if it looks amateurish, it's better than the stock colours.
