Most of the guys playing the like 300ish teeshots (including about all the Pro's) have a high ballflight with the driver. I never measured it, but I would say that at highest point most of their drives reach at least 20 yards above the fairway and they also have less roll.

At this forum I read soooooooo many times golfers looking for a low trajectory high kickpoint shaft to keep the ball down and have a preference for a good bounce and a ball bumping along the fairway for at least an extra 20-30 yards or so ....... fine for distance, but there is zero control on the bounce and the roll.

My experience is that if I hit a lower one, it bumps along a good distance, but not seldom of the fairway into some kind of trouble, while a higher shot, with less roll gives more control of "placing" the teeshot ....... Plus it gives you the opportunity to cut of doglegs or to hit over that tree, etc.

My personal preference goes towards the higher ballflight, what is yours and why ?

I use both my driver is very high, but with my 3 wood I can hit a little fade the rolls forever. On the right hole or a windy day that little fade plays very nicely and on the maybe 2-3 times I've hit a green with my 3 wood that roll out is what gets the ball up there.

That said on your average hole and day ill take a high long shot because when a high shot goes bad it doesn't go as bad as a low shot.

I like to Hit a Super High Push Draw With very little roll on it because If i have to hit  The ball in a Tight spot on the fairway i can make is stop on a dime..... ( Because I hit a Highly Workable wood driver) Mainly Because I produce ALOT of spin of my driver Via Stack and tilt..... And also I like to have that one shot in my bag that I know i can hit NO MATTER What..... Thats The One thing every golfer needs in their bag!

I'm losing 20+ yards from hitting it too low today, so I'm all for high!

Wouldn't a very high shot with very low spin tent to hook or slice or even knuckle a bit? Also how do you achieve high flight with low spin? It sounds great nice high flight with a little roll at the end but generally the higher the trajectory the more spin on the ball or so I assumed.

I play both (sometimes even on purpose!). My typical ball flight is a mid-flight draw with lots of roll, but on a tight hole I'll hit a High fade because it gets me in less trouble if I miss it

I play a lot of courses that have a bunker or some other undesirable 220-250 yards from the tree.  A high flying drive over the trees or bunkers leaves you in position A for the approach to the green.

There are several ways to hit the higher drive, but a higher ballflight - lower spin will come from a ball that has been hit in the upswing vs. the higher ballflight - higher spin, which might come from a higher lofted driver swinging down or flat..... etc.

I have played with driving it both ways, and for me  - I can hit it further hitting it high, but it is less consistent. A low tee shot with roll will get me more average distance at the end of the day - as long as when it lands it starts out in the short grass.

I tend to favor a lower shot, although, it peaks pretty late and high still.  I find, the lower I launch it, the straighter it goes.  If I need to work the line more, I'll hit it higher so I can bend it more.  The stock shot, I just hit a straight beam, little fade or draw depending on the read of the fairway.  Although, with the r9 supertri I picked up at the end of the last year, nothing bends much unless I really try to spin it
