Its been 3 months since ive started golf, I dont have a video on me yet, but surely will make one in a few days and post it here so I can get a feedback from every1 as I dont really have a coach here.

Anyways, I would appreciate if people could analyse give me feedback on my backswing.

Hoping for both positive and negative comments.

Thanks

This will help people: is this the true top of your backswing or are you already starting down in this picture?

Turn your hips more my friend! Feel the right hip turning higher and back behind you, and the left shoulder going down towards the toes on your left foot.

More hip slant and more shoulder slant! More freedom to turn without even thinking about turning.

If you can I'd suggest filming at the correct angle. See http://thesandtrap.com/b/playing_tips/filming_your_swing under the "Filing Your Swing" section for details.

That will allow people to get a much better idea on your swing and how to help.

Thanks for the advice, will try to make a video in those angles as well and post it here. Meanwhile if i could get some comments from current angle that would be great.

Agree on filming from DTL and FO views. Also, please comment on what club you are using in the video and what your typical miss is (fat, thin, ball starts left then goes right, etc) Main things I see: Address position looks good (a true face on video angle would show more) Back swing: Right elbow looses connection with the torso and hands move straight up with a cupped left wrist at the top of the back swing. Very difficult position to then approach the ball from in to out. Take a look at the deep hands thread: http://thesandtrap.com/t/30325/deep-hands-explained Downswing: You have strong legs and lower torso, which will help you in the downswing. It looks like you are initiating the downswing with your arms, and you lose some clubhead lag early in the downswing. Because your right elbow has lost connection and your start the downswing with your arms, you approach the ball from out to in with loss of clubhead lag. Start the downswing with your hips and legs. However, getting into a better position at the top of the backswing with the right arm more connected to your torso is of primary importance. Position you want at the top of the backswing: http://thesandtrap.com/image/id/183969/width/275/height/243]

Thanks for your analysis. Im hitting a 9 iron there. Honestly i dont have any problem with my irons. I use 3 wood of the tee and im scoring well, played 11 over a few days back. I normally play 9 holes every morning, my average would be 8. My best in 9 holes is 2 over..

The only problem i could think of is that my trajectory is not very high with the irons. But for that today at the rage ive maved closer to the ball n in short irons moved the ball a bit back in my stance.

Ill try to post some new videos and a video i did split with rory..

I didnt understand the deep part but ill read up on the link u gave.. I also noticed my right knee is less bent on my back swing n i completely agree which the wrist part on my back swing. How do i fix that?

Also how do i make sure my elbow doesmt get seperated from the torso?

1. Deep hands--basically you want to turn your shoulders down. Feel your left shoulder turning down toward your right foot on the backswing while moving your hands in 2. Right knee straightening on the backswing is good--this enables and will promote more hip turn 3. Elbow connection to torso at the top of backswing--Your elbow doesn't have to actually physically touch your torso at the top of the backswing (although Hogan's almost did). You basically want your right forearm vertical to the ground, with your proximal arm in front of your right side abdomen, while feeling that your right arm stays straight (it won't, but you want to feel your right palm pushing away from your right shoulder at the top). I realize this is a lot of hastily explained information on a swing piece that is difficult. The classic drills to maintain right elbow connection are to swing while holding a golf tee under your right armpit. Also, see Mike's video here see Erik's thread here http://thesandtrap.com/t/54238/elbow-position-and-its-effects-on-the-downswing

Additional info here
I didnt understand the deep part but ill read up on the link u gave.. Fixing the cupped left wrist--ahhhh (from personal experience, this is certainly a challenge) Warning, don't try to "fix" everything at once. In your case, I'd work on right elbow position at the top of the backswing and getting hips and legs to initiate the down swing with hips moving more forward. Then work on the cupped left wrist. As far as cupped left wrist--feel that your right knuckles are bending back toward your right forearm. If your left wrist is still cupped, also feel that you are curling your left fingertips toward the palm of your left hand.

@ the OP - your build and move through the ball reminded me of two players. I was thinking about them when I posted in another thread actually. Not saying you swing just like either one of them or that you should emulate them, just saying you look like a stocky athlete with potential.

    • First, it is on free TV. NBC is free to anyone with an antenna, and is on almost any TV in the U.S. with a minimal amount of effort. Charging "a bargain price" would be incredibly dumb. They charged $750 and the event sold out almost immediately. You could better argue they should have charged MORE, not less. What happens if you charge less: ticket scalpers buy up even more of the tickets because they see value: if tickets were $250, they'd clearly have sold for $1k or more on the secondary market. That's tremendous value. Fans would end up paying the same or more, or just not being able to go. Sure, a few who happened to be online at the precise moment on a fast connection and didn't fumble with their credit cards might have gotten tickets for $250, but the secondary market and ticket brokers would have scooped up the vast majority with automated processes and bots and scripts, then re-sold them later on. This way, fans get to purchase the tickets, and the PGA is earning that revenue, not the secondary ticket brokers. Econ 101. Supply and Demand. Nope.
    • Edit - the link has no title, but basically Tiger wants $5 million for each US player to “donate to charity”   They could put the Ryder Cup on free to air tv, and charge the fans a bargain price to get in.  If you have to  give the players $60 million, that’s why the tickets are $750.
