Hey guys, first time poster here. I've been reading/learning from this site for the past month. Great Forum!

I recently graduated from grad school and am taking up golf again (finally an income). I played fairly frequently from the age of 8 until 18, and while in college played a grand total of 3 rounds of golf! My current clubs are in BAD shape, so I will be in the market for a full new set in the near future. However, my first purchase is going to be a new putter. Now to my issue:

I've been putting around at 5-6 stores around my area and have decided that the "#9 style putters" (as in Odyssey White Hot XG #9 style) are perfect for me. I think they look great, I aim well with them, and they fit my arc putting stroke. However, I can NOT find one in LEFT HANDED in my price range. My budget is around $80, and I am looking to buy new. I really liked the Cleveland Classic 2 but I haven't seen 1 single left handed CC2 putter in a store, or online. I've also seen Slotline, Maxfli, and SnakeEyes putters in this style, but NO left handed.

So I ask you, are there any "#9 style putters" out there in LEFT HANDED that can be had for under $80 new?

Also, I'd prefer some sort of "harder" insert or milled face, as I feel the Odyssey White Hot insert is a little soft for me.

Thanks for any help/advice.

Good luck........ I'm a lefty and have been searching for a decent price on the same style for quite some time. I have no issue's with playing used clubs, EXCEPT for the putter. For some reason I need to feel like it's meant for me.

Sorry, I'm not sure why this was posted. I'm looking for NEW, and under $80. Not a used Scotty for $250...

As a fellow lefty I highly recommend surveying the used market.

Callaway Golf Preowned is as close to new as used can get. They come with new grips and they are also warrantied and everything. They are also very good at refurbishing the look of the club. Retail store don't carry good selections... it sucks but I talked to a Pro at Dick's and he basically told me only 15% of his business is left handed and It just doesn't make sense to stock a lot of it from a $$$ standpoint.

Maxfli has a putter that I really like that I picked up left handed at Dick's just call ahead and really look at used you can get some great deals.

pleased to welcome yet another lefty to the forum!

You may want to check out the putters from Yes! golf; the company recently went out of business, so their stuff can be found cheap on clearance websites like rockbottomgolf.com (probably my personal favorite).  They made great putters (and nothing else).  As a lefty, you may end up having to "buy before you try" a lot depending on what golf stores are nearby.  At least a clearance prices you wouldn't feel quite as bad buying something you ended up not liking so much.

Both the Yes! Valerie or Olivia putters at least have similar shape (small mallet) to the Odyssey #9 and are available there for $69.  Also, as you want firmer feel, they don't have an insert.   And I do think the C-grooves to impart a little better roll on most putts.  I play a Yes! Victoria II and love the feel--I as well found the White Hot older inserts at least to feel too mushy, especially with premium urethane golf balls.

Interesting...  I googled "Inazone XC-7" and found a link to this putter on Diamond Tour Golf for $17.99 for the putter head and 35" shaft only. I planned on re-gripping my putter anyway. I may consider this.

How different could this putter be than any other milled face putter like the Cleveland Classic 2? What difference would I notice between "17-4 stainless steel", and "431" stainless steel?

17-4 has copper in it. probably produces a little softer feel than 431 stainless. a lot of ping putters are made from 17-4 stainless, so i wouldn't be too worried about it being a "cheap" alloy.

17-4 stainless steel is whats in the Cleveland putter.. The 431 stainless is in the cheap knock-off... Anyone else know what difference in "feel" I would be able to notice?? (I'm guessing a firmer feel?) is it simply the feel, or will the "sweet spot" be physically smaller?

If you like the soft feel, I would definitely recommend the White Ice.. I have the #1..... Nothing softer to me..... Best putter ever

you're the 4th person to recommend an odyssey after the OP says, "I'd prefer some sort of "harder" insert or milled face, as I feel the Odyssey White Hot insert is a little soft for me."

The White Ice insert is firmer than the White Hot XG, so it fits the bill of what the OP is looking for.

    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
