I like Ernie. He's been playing well going back to the end of last season. Seems like the recovery from the knee has happened and he can just get back to playing golf. He's already won and finished 2nd and 3rd this season overseas against pretty good fields. Plus, his familiarity with the course and grass should aid him as well. As long as his putting steadies, he should contend. Apparently he's been experimenting with a few different things with his putting.

Ernie is definately a good choice. I like to watch Retief play as well, but overall I think I want Chris Dimarco or Charles Howell III to win.

Picking my fantasy squad for this week is going to be tough!

Dual Point 10.5 Stiff Driver
Dual Point 3 Wood
NPS-1 Irons
Dual Slot 52, 56, 60 Wedges
Newport 2

Adam Scott is my winner this week. Another player I expect to do well is Davis Love and I think Phil will also contend, he has shown that when he's good he's real good for a while, I expect the same this week.

Adam Scott is my winner this week.

That's who I'm taking as well. Scott won the rain-shortened Nissan Open two years ago, and he finished in second last year I believe. The young Aussie will have his breakthrough season in 2007.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I'll say Ernie-looked good in Dubai and it's been too long between PGA Tour wins for a guy with his talent.

I will go with either Phil or Furyk. Both seem to be playing good golf. I would throw CHIII in there because he is playing so well right now, but I just don't think he has the kahoonas to go against the big guns coming down the stretch. When they finally drop for him, I think you will see CHIII as a contender more often. I've sat and talked to Kirk Triplett before and asked him his opinion. Who is the best ball striker on tour? He said CHIII. Also, never ever count out the Vij.

I hate to sound like a broken record but id put my money on players who've had good feelings at the course. Adam Scott will play well. I guess Mike Weir is out of the picture for most considering his poor performance at Pebble. If the course is playing tough and it rains (like it always does) look for Weirsy to bounce back from last week. Other than them, all the players you mentioned have a legitimate shot at winning this week.

Personally this is one of my favorite non-major tournaments of the year so im looking forward to it.

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
