I'm actually afraid to use Callaway drivers because of the way the shaft is drilled straight through the hosel to the bottom of the clubhead--I've broken two drivers because of that, and if I was demoing a club and it broke...well, I'd get stuck with the bill, and that wouldn't be fun.

The Ben Hogan company is owned by Callaway. I played the CS3 Driver myself last season. At the end of the season there was a ratteling sound coming from my driver like something had broken off in there.

I called Callaway Customer Service and they said they don't have any CS3's left in stock and are going to ship me out a brand new Big Bertha 460 for no charge!!! That is what I call service! I don't think you have to be scared that you are going to get stuck with the bill with Callaway.

I've used Callaway since 1990. Played the original BB till two years ago. Had a brief foray into the R7 fad that was a disaster but quickly switched back to an FT-3 which I'm extremely happy with. If you can pick it up and crush it straight ahead why hit anything else?

As you can see I have the Adams BTY 4350 10.5 with the ProLaunch Stiff. I've grown to trust this driver. It doesn't hit as far as my previous driver Mizuno MP1 9 degree, but I hit more fairways. I do tend to push my drives but it's better than duck hooking, which was the reason for the change.
I'm looking at the Adams XTD a3, not sure about the box drivers but I want to start winning those long drive competitions again. lol.

Been using the FT-5 and don't see any new driver that gets me to want to switch. It seems like a down year in driver innovation? I haven't felt the buzz . . . some lines line Nike and Calloway are much the same.

Am I missing some hot new drivers?

FT Fusion Hybrids Draw 3/21*, 4/24*

FT-5 here as well. I've used TM R5 Dual for awhile then my buddy bought TM R7 425 and FT-5 at the same time. He used both drivers for 1 round and he said he hated the FT-5 sound.

I tried it and loved it. To make it even better, when I tried to buy it from him, he ended up give it to me as a birthday present!!!

has anyone heard of a new Taylor Made driver tm has coming out the burner tour. Its suppose to replace the the Super Quad. and no I am not refering to the burner TP.
I was able to go down south and use my Burner for the fist time last week. It's the normal version, so I understand it still has a slight draw basis. All I know is that when I swung hard it went high, deep and drew about 10 yards consistantly. A normal good drive with my old driver (Mizuno MP-100) would draw about 5 yards. I'm not sure if my Burner hits it any further than my MP-100, but it is more forgiving.

Wait until you hit the Hi bore XLS---its a new kind of animal

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

    • This. Aaaannnnd.... this.  Our Wednesday Night league uses that MLR and it definitely helps pace of play.  The ONLY issue that we've ever had has now kind of gone away. A few years back they started using the rule and there were a number of arguments about if the person was hitting 4 or hitting 3. Some players were pretty adamant that they were now hitting 3. The folks who actually knew the rule of course knew that they should be hitting 4. I say that and also let you know that there were actually golfers who thought going OB means you drop near OB and are now hitting 3.
    • I've come across a unique situation for handicapping, and with the changes to 10-17 hole round posting, I'm not 100% sure how to handle it. Right now, my home course is re-doing a few holes. 2 holes are playing to temporary greens (holes 4 and 9). I played in a match 2 days ago at this course, and the person that normally posts the scores has no idea how to handle this. I'm not entirely sure what he's thinking, but it seems like he's operating under the old rules where you'd just post par plus handicap strokes for any holes not played.  I think the correct way to do this now is not post scores for holes 4 and 9 and the expected score algorithm will take care of this. Is that correct? I've poked around the handicap manual and that seems to make the most sense, but the clarifications to handicap rule 3.2b are tripping me up a bit. As far as I know, the course has not gotten the CGA to do anything like temporarily re-rate the course or to tell everyone to score net par on the closed holes. I think that means we're in expected score land, but I wanted to see what others thought here.
    • 22 points in a gross Stableford is solid. Nice job.
    • I use a putting mirror often. Mine also lets you put the tees in it to set up barriers on either side of your putter to make sure I'm striking the ball near the center of the putter face.  In fact, I putt with the mirror at least weekly on my indoor mat. Opinions are like backsides; Everyone has one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks. But in my opinion it really helps. I have a tendency if left unchecked to get my eyeline way inside the target line. Using a putting mirror regularly keeps my set up way more consistent. I don't know if I can back it up with any data but "I believe" it has lead to far greater putting consistency over the past few years.  I also like gates. There are a few gate drills I think help. Basically day-15 of the 30-day Covid Challenge: Check it out here: I actually have a set of putting gates, which my mom got me for Christmas about 10 years ago. But you can use anything from golf balls to soup cans.  I also have a "Perfect Putt" and I like it but wouldn't swear by it. I will say it travels well and I've been known to bring it with me on trips and putt in my hotel room with it.  Lastly, I have a set of Devil Balls.  Amazon.com I'm not impressed with the Devil Balls. I actually don't like them at all. If you'd like the set I have I'll send them to anyone who's willing to pay the shipping.
