The V2 Shaft is a better, lower ball flight due to the stiff tip. But make sure you get the heavy FW shaft, like 90 grams or something...the NV is great too, but the launch is just a little high for me.

BACK TO FW Woods, I have an old Callaway Steelhead Plus w/a Grafalloy ProLite FW shaft in it, but I just changed to Titleist 906f2 w/stiff V2 shaft...dead straight off the tee every time...no matter how hard I swing, love this CLUB!!!

I have a launcher 13 and a 906f2 18 as per signature. I generally use the launcher off the tee when a need a more accurate drive on shorter holes. They are both great clubs and I would recommend them to anyone. I was actually trying to get a launcher 17 but found the 906f2 for a great price on eBay recently.

I don't use fairway woods for one ive never owned one, and form what ive tried of my friends i don't really like them.

tmoult, if you were going for any par 5's in 2 you would start to like them. Three metal off the deck is a tough shot but when pulled off there isn't too much sweeter. My Nike SQ 15 degree is the nicest 3 metal I've ever owned. It's great off the tee and from the fairway. Rough, not so much for me unless it's teed up.

Can't the TV guys come up with a better name than "3 Metal"? It always bugs me, it was 3 wood for me. What are some alternatives?

Swing = Stacked and On Plane when possible.

I just switched from a Taylor Burner Tourspoon 14* to a new Callaway X Tour 15*. I really hit the X great off the deck, but I am having a small issue off the tee. I am sure the issue is mainly between my ears. I am going to tee it like an iron shot and see if that helps.

Titleist 906F2 if I'm on a course where fairway wood tee shots are required. Else, it gets swapped for a low lofted hybrid on courses where I'll be playing more shots from off the deck.

I am about to replace my 16 degree hybrid with a Titleist 906F4 15.5 degree fairway metal, with a Graphite Design Y-6 shaft, regular flex. I want a little more distance off the fairway than the hybrid is providing, and the low profile of the 906F4 inspires the confidence to hit it as well as I hit the hybrid. I may end up rotating the two clubs, however, depending on the type of course I'm playing. I played a round using a demo last week and liked it so much, I ordered one from my pro. I'll get it this weekend and we'll see if the second bite of strawberry shortcake is as good as the first bite.

I also like the Titleist 904f's. I purchased the 906f2 with a 13 deg. UST V2 while keeping my 17 904f. I love the 904f. Didn't like the 906f2, sold it and purchased a new 904f 13 deg. last week of ebay. I love the flight, distance and sound of the 904f. I have Graphite Design YS6+ in both 904f's. I also have the 585 21 which I like well enough too.

    • Day 12: stole about 10 minutes in the garage, doing my drill with foam balls.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
