Hey, guys.  I'm hoping someone can answer my questions seeing as I have zero knowledge about local amatuer tours....

I saw a member on the forum say that he had won a tournament, it looked to be 3 rounds.  The member showed a 14 marker, as FYI.

What are these local amatuer tournaments?  Are they open to the public, there is just a registartion fee and participants are grouped via handicaps?

This looks to be something I'd be interested in doing locally and any information would be great!

Most places have some kind of amateur tours in their area.  You have the Golf Channel tour.  In my area we also have an egolf tour.  You pay a member fee and then pay to play each tournament gaining points.  I know the egolf tour is cool because if you finish high enough, you get to go to Myrtle Beach to play in the national championships or something.  I plan on playing in my local one next year because most of my playing partners have quit.

The egolf tour is now sponsored by Golfweek. I played in the Nashville chapter last season and had a blast! It's a great way to get some competitive play against other players with your skill level. As TN said, the point system is the best thing. The top 10 in each flight are invited to play in the National Championship in Hilton Head.

Driver:  R9 Supertri 10.5* -  909D3 9.5*

2 Hybrid:  2009 TP Rescue 17*

Irons:  R9 TP 3-PW

Wedges:  Vokey 54* & 60*

Putter:  2Ball Vline 34"

I'm still having zero luck w/ this.  I've googled it to death.  I cannot find local amatuer tournaments grouped by handicaps.   The Golf Channel's tour has what I'm looking for, but the "Pittsburgh" chapter plays everywhere but Pittsburgh.

UGH!  This shouldn't be too difficult.

thats the closest golfweek tour I could find to you....I've seen that tour played around my area and its well ran here and seems to be fun for all.

This is the egolf organization I was referring to.  It's very well ran around here too and I have been watching the tournament results the last 2 years and their memberships are obviously growing.
