I wonder what odds on it i would get?

Am i the only believer in the man and his god??

Come on Zach!!!!
Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.

Ummm... no.

I was pulling for Zach. He appears to be an outstanding young man who accomplished an amazing feat.

As for the Grand Slam.......I think you need to shallow out your breathing, bring that pulse rate down around 20 points, loosen up those hands and arms, and slow the tempo of those practice swings WAY, way down.

Let's play 'em one at a time, boss!

He's a cool guy, and I really like his swing, but he won't win all of em. I mean, MAYBE the U.S. open or something, but even that I highly doubt.

I think Zach is a good player. You have to be to remain on the PGA tour. But as far as winning the grand slam.......I'd say slim and none, and slim just left town.

I do have to give the man his due props.....he played well and bested a very deep field. Just as Ben Curtis did at the Brittish Open.

Not going to happen. He played well and won the green jacket he is a major winner but not for a sweep.

He is not long enough to consistently dominate, he won't win another major this year. Maximum of one more in his career. See Mike Weir.

Zach has a good putting stroke. He's not easily intimidated, and has cold water running through his veins. I don't think he's grand slam material.

He got hot one week. Christ, he wasn't even in the top 50 in the world before Augusta. Not only will he not win the slam he won't win another major period. He is a good guy, and it was a good story but chances are he will go the way of Steve Jones and Todd Hamilton. What are you talking about?! He's been nothing but humble and completely admirable after his win. So he went on the talk show circuit for a while, tell me one guy who wouldn't!!!! He's keeping it pretty low key and just enjoying the moment while he's in it, he even held up his commitment to play the following week at Harbor Town, not many guys would do that.

I don't see Zach Johnson winning the grand slam, but I definitely think he'll win another major and probably some other top tier events now that he's got some confidence going for him. He's more apt to go the route of Retief Goosen than Steve Jones or Todd Hamilton. You're probably the same kind of guy that hates on Tiger for "winning too much" aren't you?

What are you talking about!? Zach Johnson is a fine guy. He won with humility and honor. My quote is basically I don't see him doing anything special on tour. I think he has spent his time in the limelight, he handled it well, and I think he's done. Any of those guys on tour can get hot one week and win a golf tournament. Sometimes a player can luck out and get hot the week of a major. I mean good for him I'm just not ready to hand him player of the year honors. Maybe I'll be wrong, only time will tell. I simply stated my opinion that I don't see Zach Johnson as the next big name on tour. And what the hell does Tiger have to do with this? I try not to "hate on" anyone. And I don't believe anyone can win too much!

I'm not looking to ruffle any feathers, it just seemed like you were stating that he hadn't maintained his humility while going through this media storm after winning the Masters. Now that I read your Shakespeare quote again I'm not 100% sure that's what you were saying.

I'm not about to hand Johnson the Player of the Year honors yet either, but I do think that he'll be more of a significance than Steve Jones and/or Todd Hamilton!

As far as the Tiger comment, I was referring to the constant sour grapes you hear from people after Tiger wins or while he's on a back to back streak or something. Not to group Zach Johnson in Tiger's company just yet!! I agree, there is no such thing as winning too much.

i dont think he has much of a chance in the Masters i thought that was a bit of a fluke as when he had his good round then Tiger and Appelby had bad rounds that was a bit of a fluke win there or thats what i say,
id like to see somebody new win though or thew underdog to win.

Geez... look what happens when someone comes on here and makes a ridiculous comment. People get all fired up.

Whoever said maybe one more in his career, see Mike Weir, I agree with that.

One thing to realize is there are a lot of really good players, household names even that are in that "only having won one major tournament" category. To concede or even believe that Zach johnson will be more successful than Davis Love III, David Toms, Tom Lehman, Steve Elkington, David Duval, and Jim Furyk is iffy at best. That is all I am saying.

Point well received. You are exactly right about that. It's hard to imagine that some of the players you have mentioned (and others) only have 1 major. Then look at a guy like Daly, granted he's only got 2, but still a multiple major champ.

So I agree that while Zach Johnson might now go on to win a bunch of majors, I really don't see him going the Todd Hamilton route!

    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
