Looks like the whole weekend will be rained out. I skipped playing last Sunday since the forecast looked so good for this week. Got into work Monday morning and suddenly the whole outlook for the week was bleak. Luckily I took a half day on Wednesday when it looked like I might have just enough time to maybe get in a full 18. Thankfully they were allowing carts on the course as I was able to get in 18 in 2:20 (had to wait on 4 of the holes) and it started pouring just as I was finishing up the 18th.

Bummed about no golf this weekend but at least I still have 8.5 days personal/vacation days left to use.

Yeah, I totally hear you and commiserate. Lots of rain lately, lots of days I wanted to play or practice but couldn't.

Are there such things as indoor golf courses? No, simulators don't count.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Same here, was hoping Sunday would be okay, but now it looks like it's going to rain the next 5 days.

I work every other weekend and I'm actually at work this weekend. I'm not feeling so bad about having to work now, so long as the rain lets up by next weekend! Although, it is September in Northeast Ohio. I can't really expect anything other than waking up to the complete opposite of the nightly forecast.

"Tomorrow's High 59°F with 60% chance of showers."  Wake up to 70° and sun. "Tomorrow's High, 72°F with 10% chance of scattered showers". Wake up to 55°, rain, fog, mist, 20mph wind, etc. etc. etc. lol

Yeah, wake up this morning to no rain and the afternoon is supposedly only a very minimal chance of rain. I can probably escape rain all together if I drive a few hours west or northwest.

I feel your pain. I wanted to get out there yesterday but it was pouring all day.

I hope I can play next Friday because it does not look like its going to be any good before then.

Ended up getting a round in both Saturday and Sunday. Cart path only so the rounds were brutally long (4.75 hours Saturday, 5.33 Sunday) but it's better than being stuck indoors due to rain.

Those rounds are way too long - even with cart path only.  Sounds like the marshall wasn't doing his job very well.

They had a few marshalls out but it didn't help. From what I could see the whole course was backed up. It didn't help that the course is very anal about cart path only meaning don't even take one wheel off the cart path. blocked by the other cart in your group? Sit and wait until they can move forward (not that we didnt break that rule a few times). They probably would have been better off leting some people walk.

The rain is allegedly about done here. Its been 6 days straight about now for us. I say allegedly, because the weather man keeps predicting Sunny on the next day, and then you wake up to rain.

    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
