Not yet, but I have sure thought about it.  Only thing that keeps me from doing it is the fact that when it is hot out, I have to use several gloves per round due to sweat and I do not feel like carrying 6+ gloves for one round.

I played with 2 gloves the first 2 or 3 years - I have naturally dry skin and that combined with what I now think was an improper grip contributed to the need. Eventually I was able to play with only one glove during rounds and short practice sessions, but still put athletic tape on a couple fingers on my right hand if I'm going to be having a long practice session.

Staying within the same subject matter, does anyone have any recommendations for cold weather gloves?

It's not who you are in life, but what you do and how you treat others that makes the difference.......

Cold weather.....what is that? You must be talking about that two weeks that I just won't play golf.....

Thanks for the replies. After further reading, I think my grip is wrong in a slight way??? I don't remember this problem back when I was good at golf.....Honestly, the inside of my right pinky finger is the only spot that gets rubbed. Maybe I am just getting soft in my old age, I know I am soft in the middle now...

I just put a Leather wrap grip on my driver.  It is sticky, when it starts to lose its stick if you wipe it with a damp towel and dry it is sticky again.

I also go through lots of gloves.  My thinking it that I may be able to play without a glove (which I prefer) because of how the leather reacts to moisture.

They are expensive, $20 a grip.  BUT if I can play without a grip and avoid buying a half a dozen gloves a year financially it starts to make sense.  I love the driver grip.

I got a Gripmaster grip off their website.  I am going to play with it for a while and if it works as I expect I map swap them all over to leather.

The right pinky problem has only ever happened for me when it's been hot and my hand have sweated and rubbed. I now carry some zinc oxide tape in my bag so that if it rubs I can tape it up for the round rather than going Tommy Gainey.

I usually wear 4 (yes four) gloves to start a season - 2 for each hand. I have had the start of a few seasons postponed due to blisters so I would rather overdo it than risk the blisters. It only takes about 7-10 days until I back off to 2 gloves (one per hand) and then another 7-10 and I am back to just the one glove. Someday I will move to a climate where I can golf year round and not have to worry about taking 5-7 months off each year.

Where ever you live, I need to move there. Northern Illinois gets real cold and there's a few courses that will stay open till the first snow!!

I wear gloves on both hands because I have arthritis in my fingers and the glove minimizes the impact stress.  I do take them both off for chipping and putting.  A minor 'benefit' is that I don't have one hand more tanned than the other.  I have done this for several years now and gotten used to having two gloves.

I recently put Crossline Full Cords on my clubs and there is no way a person with virgin hands such as myself can play without a glove.  While they do not lose group with moisture, they start to wear a hole in my glove after one round.

I like the idea of playing without a glove so I will be exploring different grips.  May need larger grips though because they feel too small without a glove.

Depends on the weather. Earlier in the year with low humidity and a breeze, I'll use one glove. As it gets sticker and hotter, I'll move to two gloves. Or when it starts to get colder, I'll move to 2 gloves. I carry plenty of gloves to be able to swap out. For the left hand I'll spend a few bucks on decent gloves, but for the weather extremes I'll buy discount gloves for the right hand- can usually find a website to get 3 for 9 or 10 bucks. I'll sometimes cut the fingers off of those depending on how I think I'll play with them cut off. I have gloves hanging off of almost all the straps on my bag- plus several stashed inside. Plus a couple of pairs of rain type gloves- not necessarily 'rain' specific gloves- these are gloves that are a bit older and have some strange quality about them that makes them stickier in the wet.

During cold weather which starts sometime in October to about Thanksgiving or whenever the snow starts falling after which I have to hibernate until spring.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been wearing two gloves since the 1960's. I tend to rub an area a little raw on my right index finger. Everybody says it's because my grip in wrong. Yea, right, I'm 75 years old, and I'm a 12 handicap. All I know, is that this works for me

I've been playing without a glove for years and will only put them on when I need to wear two due to weather issues.  I don't expect that will happen often this year as I can war two regular gloves when it's cold, take them off to swing, and put them back on again.
