Cleat removal

Does anyone remove the cleats on their shoes. I have noticed that I have to be careful how I walk on the greens to keep from "damaging" the turf. I am thinking of removing the cleats. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'd be wary of leaving them off. If you ever change your mind, by that time you probably will have stepped on a few rocks that will break the plastic mechanic that lets you screw in the cleats. So do it if you want, but theres a decent chance you won't be able to get the cleats in again if you want. Also, they do make spike-less cleats.

Thanks for the reply. It does make sense to keep the cleats on. I do have the soft cleats. Maybe the greens were a bit more moist than usual because I did notice that as the morning went along, the leaving of marks on the greens was lessened.

I'd recommend looking into a pair of spikeless shoes, even like the TRUE Linkswear shoes .

You do realise that while you leave some indentations, they do spring up again after a few minutes? Even if you have spikeless golf shoes, you'll still leave marks.

No - golf shoes are meant to have spikes & it's soft spikes everywhere these day. If you're that concerned, just wear running shoes, but you won't have grip when you need it - like when hitting shots.
