i didn't see a thread already mentioning this anywhere...

http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/blog/devil_ball_golf/post/A-Tiger-return-Woods-breaks-course-record-at-Fl;_ylt=AuaRcRdZYtOlZ1xQAStq2gsogsUF?urn=golf-wp6093

granted it wasn't in a tournament, just tiger out playing golf, but 62 still isn't too shabby and bested the previous course record by 2 strokes.  i'd be pretty excited to see him hold onto that momentum and win next week, but of course, whole other world between a casual round and doing it in competition for four consecutive rounds.  i also thought it was fairly amusing/ironic that greg norman said tiger is probably done winning majors, and a few days later tiger goes to a norman designed course and breaks the course record.

Yeah I saw that article this morning, it was the second one on Yahoo. I doubt he's got 1997 Augusta in him, but I think he should play pretty well at the Frys. BTW, if Tiger is "asking just about anyone with a staff bag to tee it up in hopes of sharpening his game," where's my call Tiger? I've got my staff bag in my trunk. You can have your people call my....... cell phone. :-P

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

Meh.

I want to see Tiger getting back to kicking butt as much as anyone, but this is what it is... a practice round. Still, I've played The Medalist. It's not like you can slap it around and do okay.

But, as odd as it may seem, the simple differences between playing with fans watching in a real event versus playing by yourself in 90 minutes zipping around your home course are big, big, big.

Maybe That's what he needed. A confidence boost. Breaking a course record is a big deal in competition or not. I guess we shall see

That question is about as relevant as "Am I Tiger Woods?"

The 62 means he can physically post a score that low but until he does it in a tournament we can't be certain he's back mentally.  I hope he's back on track.

    • Day 116 12-6 Still working on getting to lead side. Tonight I also tried some skill work with clubface awareness.  Hit foam balls.
    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
