Practice is not Tournament golf.He can practice for the rest of his life,he needs to be in a Tournament every week in my opinion if he is every going to get his A game back.I still for the life of me don't understand how he can't step up and hit a driver in the fairway 90% of the time. These guys are good because they know how to adjust their swings,so when you see a tour professional struggle with a driver as long as Tiger has, there are MAJOR swing flaws going on,and he still has them. And this proves my point that he can be on the range at home striping his driver down the middle of the range, but it's a whole new ballgame when your on the tee at a tour event.I guess we'll all be debating this for a long time, and I do hope he gets his game back,he's good for the game for sure!!

+1.  In a tournament, you become a little more stiff and your swing is not as same as hitting it on a range.  Anyone who has competed will understand this.  Heck if you had trouble hitting that first drive when people are watching, you know what that is like.  Same thing for pros in a tournament.  No matter how often they played in a tournament, there is always a little nerve and extra adrenaline flowing.  In order to hone your swing under tournament conditions, you need to play tournaments.

I think it's interesting that we all comment and how abysmal Tiger's putting is so far this year and he's still top 50 this year on the PGA tour strokes gained statistics.

I think his putting is a mix of actual bad putts, and ball striking.  Tiger isn't throwing darts at pins right now like he used to and of course, the closer you are to the pin, the more putts you make.

No kidding. Barring penalty strokes, hitting 9 greens and taking 27 putts is basically even par. For every additional lost stroke there's probably a par 5 on in 2, which still counts as 1 GIR (to my knowledge - others may disagree). If I could count on 27 putts in a typical round I'd be approaching scratch.

Similar to many thinking McIlroy's putting is pretty poor, yet he is 10th on the Euro Tour stats in Putts per GIR. Stats don't always equal the opinion, I guess.

I agree, but in my opinion Tiger doesn't have any class. Used to like Couples too, but its a little guilt by association with me concerning his captains pick. You know, maybe life is just too difficult for Woods.  Too much money to keep track of, too many homes to maintain, too many yachts to gas up.  I need to be more understanding.

Great. Good for you.

Thing is, a lot of us here don't really care what kind of guy he is.

I personally watch golf to see good shots and good scores - not to watch out for when a guy swears or throws a club ( personally I don't care when they do anyway - it adds some entertainment value )

Maybe put down the the ladies gossip magazines - they're usually full of the stuff you mention ( how big his house is, how much money he has, how many yachts he has )

You seem very preoccupied with Tigers personal life when we're talking about his golf game.

    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
