Not sure if it is okay to mention another forum here, but here goes. OK, I am trying to read as much as possible of this 1300+ post thread, but there's alot of language in there that escapes me.

Is anyone reading this? I get the gist - trying for lag is no good, but what are the main points Manzella is getting at? And how does it relate to Stack & Tilt? Thanks in advance.

Main things I saw were:

- Hands rising at Impact (low point of hands different than low point of club).

- Closing the gap as quickly as possible between clubhead and ball.

- Left wrist breaking down naturally after impact.

No opinions on it really, just what I saw and observed.

http://thesandtrap.com/t/53131/lag-too-much-of-a-good-thing .

Brian Manzella likes to try to take credit for things that:

a) others invented, knew, or already considered "common sense"

b) small things in the golf swing that you can't really teach

In this case he is being his typical little Napoleon Complex Self and doing both.

The low point of the hands is pretty near to directly beneath the sternum. The low point of the club head tends to be under the left armpit (in good swings). Too much lag is a bad thing. Instructors have known these things for decades.

And the "low point of the hands being behind the low point of the club" is not really something you can teach. What, are you gonna tell your students "raise your hands up 0.001 seconds before impact"? The hands raise slightly AS A RESULT of other things the golfer did in the swing.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.
