I'd really like to see Álvaro win this one. I hope he can keep it together over the weekend. I watched him at the Madrid Masters a couple of years ago and it is difficult to put into words just how far he hits it. MILES comes to mind! And he's pretty straight too.

This is a looong course, long hitters will have a change imho. Go Alvaro!!

Btw... seeing Luke looking for his ball in the bushes is kinda weird... 1st player in driving accuracy! :D

What a round by Kaymer, right back in it.

Luke Donald charging as well. And Rory looks very frustrated early in his round.

They just showed that Donald is only 26th in scrambling on the European Tour, I tought he would be higher on that list.

Donald has the race wrapped up, but it will be interesting tomorrow to see who wins the event. Quiros has a habit of exploding from time to time, like last week when he was leading after 3 rounds and shot 39 on the front 9 Sunday.

Looking at his final rounds this year, in the 15 stroke play tournaments where he has played all 4 rounds he has shot 74 or worse 8 times, including 2 79s and a 78.

Having said that though he has an impressive 5 wins in the last 4 years, I fully expect to see him on the Ryder Cup team next year.

Had he confidently birdied the last hole, I would have put money on him winning tomorrow. Now I'm not so sure.

Great round from Luke. What a year!

Luke really seems to have learned to hang tough when it really counts. Surely he's got a major in him over the next two years?

I'm happy to see Louis O playing well again after his injury troubles. Love that swing!

Fantastic way to win for Alvaro! Watch out for him in the majors next year, and the Ryder Cup

Luke Donald gave himself a great chance with the 3 birdies at the end, he seems to enjoy doing 'Tigeresque' final round runs lately

So Luke comes 1st in:

Insane to be first in both greens and putting for the season....

Excellent win for Álvaro!! I thought he was going to blow it but he came back strong on the back 9. And what an 18th hole!

I'm sure there are still quite a few people in denial, but there is no doubt Luke is a deserving number one.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
