hey, great topic. i had one in '99 with my best friend in tampa. 185 yds and it put me out ahead of him in match. no, i didn't buy drinks. i kept it low key but i was real excited nonetheless. i mean you could see every detail of the ball's journey to the cup. i never knew if i'd ever have one, now i wonder if i'll have another.

How many holes in ones do you have?

3 what was your final score? 78,79,84 Did you frame the ball and score card? For who? No. I do have all of the balls. Did you buy drinks? No. That's a stupid tradition. Did you have any positive thoughts before hitting your shot? How do you hit a good shot without those?

Best, Mike Elzey

I had my second ever hole in one yesterday.

The shortest par 3 on our course, the 139 yard 3rd hole. Hit a nice smooth 9 to the flag on the top/back tier. Normally a shot hit like mine would check and spin back pretty hard, most of the time to the lower tier. And this shot had some juice on it. Thankfully the hole got in the way.

I've been hitting some pretty stelar iron shots lately. On Thursday I practically holed out on the same hole, to the same pin. I actually did hole a gap wedge from 110 yards on the par 4 9th. And on the very next hole, a par 5, I hit the pin with my SW from 90 yards. Hooray galf!

Does screen golf count? You hit real golf balls into a screen and lasers measure ball speed, spin etc.

I was playing Lakewood CC in Korea and had around a 130 meter par 3 (around 140 yards). I hit my 7 iron a little fat and thought that I was going into the buker guarding the front of the hole. I cleared the bunker by about 5 meters and it rolled into the hole. As soon as the ball made it to the green I knew it was going in. Finished the round at 94. Had a a couple of blow up holes that really did me in. I really need to keep my ball from going OB and three putting.

I have not had a hole in one, but last April the wife did.

Course: Shawnee Hills (Cleveland Metroparks)
Hole: #8 Par 3 138 yards
Club: Driver :)

The wife had been hitting shots right all day so she decided to compensate and aim left. She had hit it a bit too flat and it flew halfway to the hole then wormburned the rest of the way to the green. On the green it curved right towards the pin and then dropped in!!

She got a free mention in the local paper, a free trophy from the metroparks and a certificate, plus 6 free balls from the Metroparks.

She was thrilled!

[QUOTE=iacas;48367]Ditto. No aces, but many to inches. I honestly think that if I ever got a hole in one hitting a bad shot, I'd deny it or simply keep my count at zero. Who would want to re-tell the story of their shank that hit a cart and a tree before finding the cup, or that rolled through a bunker, hit a rake, and found the hole ?QUOTE]

I know this post is ancient Iacas but it really made me think and come up with a new, and imo, better question.

Who wouldn't?

I mean that's one hell of a story. I've never actually had a hole in one before but I do have a buddy who got one and it's a pretty good story.

It was about a 135 yd par 3 and by mistake he grabbed his 6 iron thinking it was his 9. Well he really thinned this ball, just mishit it bad. And it ended up going in! Guys gets a hol-in-one off a mishit. Awesome.

Now why would you be ashamed of this Iacas?

Congrats to all the people to record hole in ones and please ponder this:

Ben Hogan, who was possibly the greatest ball striker of all time supposedly NEVER had a hole in one in competition or leisure play....it's true believe it or not.

You can talk to a slice, but a hook doesn't listen.

I did not get a hole in one but on my golf team last year there were two on the same hole in my groups at different times. In tryouts there was one and then later in the season a kid hit two balls OB then dropped one in for a hole-in-5.

Got #3 today. 3/4 9 iron to the short par 3 third of 139 yards. The hole has a two teir green. Pin was in front [lower teir]. All you need to do is throw it past the hole and hope it takes the slope correctly. Today it did. I had a feeling standing on the tee that I'd hole it too.

I didn't get one but played Burswood golf course and on the second hole, par3 an old guy steps up hits a good shot straight at the pin and the ball disappeared. I thought it was just hidden by the bunker but 1 guy says "I think it went in the hole". No one believed it and soon enough when they approached the cup, the ball was in. The course was slow all day and after we walked off the 18th I realised how bad this guy was. He had at least 12 shots on the last par 5 with him duffing 4 in a row. Pretty ironic.

Had been playing less than a year, and now I know I should have quit but I love the torture. Memorial day '08 Yule Golf Course Alexandria IN #11 par 3 209 yds on my buddies skycaddie. Taylormade r7 3 wood into about a 15 mph wind. The pro v hit on the collar rolled on the green then just vanished. First person I called was my dad in Fl. because he taught me to play as a teen (played for maybe half the summer) then he dared me to play again in Jul of '07

like many others, i dont have one either. But I played a few days ago at my home course, and we got paired with an 80 year old couple (the only reason i know is he kept telling me he was 84) #16 is a 210 yard hole from the tips, where we hit 4 iron over the lake. The whites are only about 150-160 (not sure, never played from there) with no water to contend with, completely different angle. This dude hit a 3,5, or 7 wood who knows. His ball never got more than 20 feet in the air, landed 20 yards in front of the green, and rolled its sweet pinnacle ass all the way and dropped in the cup. I almost drowned myself in the lake, but I was happy for the guy, it helped him break 100.

I was out playing 9 by myself, and was in the "zone" Fairway, Green, 2putt every hole, even par through 8. #9 is 147 par 3. Sweet spot 80% swing w/ 8i lands 5 feet in fron to hole and one hops in..............and then I woke up to the alarm...........

well, if you count mini-golf:

Got to the 3rd to last hole, and this was a toughie: hard dog left and I had the option of either rolling it up the hill on the right side and running it down the slope towards the hole, or taking the straight shot down the left and two putt. A hazard separted the two options. I felt courageous so I took the first route. didn't really think too much about the putt, just set up and hit it up the hill, rolled down the slope and ran towards the hole. My cousin and I were shouting, me going "Go IN! Go IN!" and my cousin shouting "No, no, NO, NOOO!!" as it finally dropped into the cup. I beat him that round.
