Posts aren't a measure of time, Mr Camper man!

Well I guess this will be the last time camper6 tries to tell a joke on this forum! You guys must be a laugh riot on a camping trip....

Especially when you have to translate it.

It loses in the translation.

"You mean you were both cheating?"

Well yes. That's the joke.

Most of the posts are going to be made by people who don't get the joke. Judging by the fact there are only two pages of replies, I'd say the sarcasm is a bit unwarranted.

However, golfers are not really known for their sense of humor. I can't remember the last time I heard a joke during a round that wasn't a reference to Caddyshack.

If that's the case I am glad I posted it.

I guarantee it will get a few yuks on men's night at the club after a few beers.

Everyone is sitting there waiting for the ruling.

They get it, but they don't like the the implication that it's a situation that everyone could have been in because "Hey, let's admit it, we all cheat and it could happen, right?"

The only people who would find it amusing are those who can "relate" to it, and honest golfers can't.

The other thing is that it's not just giving yourself a nice lie in the rough, it's stealing your opponent's ball. Where is the hunour?

Who can identify with that sort of thing except an out and out scumbag?

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Yes. That's exactly it. Only cheating scumbags laugh at jokes about cheating scumbags. Glad someone pointed it out.

I can't believe you guys are serious. IT'S A JOKE PEOPLE, you should try it sometime, it's fun.

Sheesh....

Yeah sure.

Like no one ever cheats at golf?

Anyone ever hear about sandbaggers and handicaps over the years?

The point of the joke in case someone missed it is : There is no honor among thieves.

O.K. here's another one.  Let's see if you can catch on to this one.

An old favorite about the Golfer who has been slicing off the tee at every hole . . . . He finally gives up and asks his long suffering caddy. . . . .
Golfer: "Can you see any obvious problems . . . .??"
Caddy: "There's a piece of s..t on the end of your club."
Golfer: He picks up his club up and cleans the club face . . . .
Caddy: "No, sir, its at the other end."

Is there a bit of bird poo on the grip or something?

Camper, lol it's not so much that the bad humour is on the receiving end of your jokes... want to use an analogy referring to this last joke of yours, but it would come out wrong.

You don't have to say it.  I catch on fast.

But you have to admit something has to lighten up the sad faces on this board.

To be honest, me personally, I can appreciate the attempt at humour, bad or otherwise!

I just happen to like pricking people here and there from time to time as well! :D

Where are they?

The point they (we?) are making is that it is not funny because it is inviting people to chuckle at the subtle irony of soemone getting busted and having nowhere to go because he'll implicate himself. It assumes that people can relate to it. It's just not funny. But itwould be if cheating was part of your gown golfing "ethics".

Not unlike the supposedly true stories aof a guy "finding" his ball behind the green on a par 3 after a long search and then his partners pulling out the flag and finding the real ball there.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

With an avatar like yours, I'm not surprised that you find it funny.

Forewarned is forearmed. At least the ladies on the site know the score.

I was just suggesting that you didn't realize it was a joke - I never said it was "funny".

    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
