I love the Footjoy Rain Grips too!  I just bought another pair.   I also really like the Footjoy Spidr 2 when I'm not wearing the Rain Grips.

I picked up a Titleist Perma Soft and really like it... I don't know if I'd buy another glove.

An assortment of gloves, at about $6.50 each.  I play about 3 times a week, and find that they have held up quite well.

Hi everybody. This is my first post, after reading for a while. I thought this would be a good place to start, since I have been using the top-quality cabretta leather gloves from MG for about 10 years...I started using them when I heard that Hale Irwin used it winning the US Open. They don't have the stupid little button marker, and are very thin, but last me about 10 or 15 rounds, at least.

I love to hate this game!

I usually just pick up whatever glove is cheapest but last time i bought a footjoy and it has a little built in ball marker. A little extra accesory i didn't realize i needed but i have come to depending on it because i always forget a ball marker on hole 1 and this helps me to keep from looking like an idiot and shoving a tee in the ground. just prefer to have it and pretty inexpensive. maybe 13 bucks.

I played Footjoy StaSofts forever but they just haven't seemed the same lately.  Can't quite put my finger on it but both the fit and feel just strike me as a little off....

I've been using a Titleist Players for several months now.  Great fit and feel, but I'm not real happy with the longevity for the price.  I may have to keep poking around.....

I picked up 2 more of the Titleist PermaSoft gloves (total of 3 of them now) and plan on rotating them every 6 holes as it is HOT out here during the summer and I sweat a lot... I'm thinking I'll get better life out of each glove this way.

The best comment I ever heard about golf gloves is this...... "It's the only thing between you and the club. Why would you go cheap on that part?" A 1 degree "rotation" in the hand equals a 4.4 yard right or left miss on a 250 yard drive, and a 21.87 yard miss with 5 degree turn. So to me a glove is just as important as the clubs and balls I play with. Along with the type of glove it's also the fit. I want no slack in the palm with my fingers extended out straight, this will produce the least amount of slack when gripping the club.

For me, the best one I have found is the Nike Dri-Fit Tour, not the TW version either. My local Golf Galaxy has stopped carrying these so I have to drive an extra 20 min to Golfsmith or find something different for this season.

You know what. I've also been using the Footjoy StaSofts for a long time too. And just this year, something just doesn't feel right right. I totally agree with you.

I haven't tried the Titleists gloves yet, maybe I'll pick one up this weekend and see how I like them.

The LeviTee is and off name glove that is actually pretty interesting, and though it feels slightly off the first time you use it due to little pads between the fingers, it creates a much larger handprint on the club, making it seem like there is more grip.  I would only recommend in dry conditions though.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
