I would love to see two golf films.

'Follow The Sun'  The Ben Hogan Story and a little more recent, 'Golf in the Kingdom'

Any information would be appreciated. I would prefer if there was a way to watch these online. There are probably other great films. I've seen the usual suspects, Bagger Vance (Good), Caddyshack (comedy classic), Tin Cup (OK), Happy Gilmore (sorry not for me). Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

'Follow The Sun'...........about Ben Hogan, (played by Glen Ford) is a fair movie. Could not find it on Netflix. Due to its age may be tough to find anywhere.

Very few movies about golf have been really good, IMHO.  'The Greatest Game' about Francis Ouimet is pretty good. And 'Stroke of Genius' about Bobby Jones is also not too bad.

They really need to make one about Walter Hagen. Now that's a story. Tiger thinks HE'S intimidating?   Hagen had them all the way.

I recently watched a biopic staring Jim Caviezel titled Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius. I really enjoyed it and gave me better understanding of why he never played as a pro..

In my Clutch stand bag:

G15 Driver

G15 4 Wood

Warrior Golf 7 Wood

G15 4-UW

55* Sand & 60* Lob Wedges

Isn't Hagen depicted in the Bagger Vance film.

What about 'golf in the Kingdom' has no one heard about it.

Not sure if Hagen is in Bagger but I recently watched "Stroke of Genius" and he is in that one.  Very colorful character.  I'd like to know more of his story as well.

All I know................Hagen reportedly was on the town in NYC, and wound up in a city fountain with a young starlet that was NOT his wife at the time!

But then again, Hagen enjoyed over exaggerating a good story. Never one to let facts get in the way!

He was the FIRST true Professional. Made his living from golfing. Had a few club jobs, but mainly a tour pro. He is a fascinating character. Showman all the way. Could play a little too. He holds 11 Major Championships and the Masters had not been invented when he played. 2 US Opens, 4 British and 5 PGA!

    • https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/handicapping/world-handicap-system/world-handicap-system-usga-golf-faqs/faqs---calculate-course-handicap-and-playing-handicap.html That's up to you and the league. You can do a percentage, or just do 100%. If they're already salty about a 12.4 becoming a 10… I don't know that docking it to an 8 with 80% will go over all that well. If the higher handicaps are winning way too often, a percentage is often warranted. It affects them more than the low handicappers (22 x .2 = 4.4, 2.2 x .2 = 0.44).
    • Of course, what I also should have asked is "what handicap should be used in a league? The "Course Handicap" or the "Playing Handicap" and if the latter, what allowance should be made for non-elite stroke play competition? (95% of C.H.? 90%? or forget about the playing handicap altogether?
    • I'll keep the rule only if the water is visible above the surface either where the ball is placed or a normal stance would take place. If not, play ball. I took this the same as a divot, just bad luck. Adjust for a saggy/wet lie and hit the ball. (maybe put on your rain clothes before :D)
    • Day 302 - 2025-07-29 Slowly bridging the gap between the academy and the course. And by "slowly" I mean SLOWLY. Played 18 today.
