The American public has a hard time watching a man that weighs 300 pounds and is sweating profusely while playing an easy game.  Just doesn't fit with our definition of an athlete.

So the answer would be zero.

Which easy game would that be? LOL.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Really?  Is this an honest question?

You think that golf is a physically demanding sport?  It is nothing compared to basketball, soccer, hockey, etc.  You take a walk around a course...

Unless played in sweltering heat, a round of golf is very easy, Like baseball without the occasional running. Getting a good score is another matter, but physically it's not exactly taxing.

Now do you see why it's exactly the type of person you abhor who's drawn to golf in the first place?!?!?

Hypocrite.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

How about:

Billy Casper -  51 wins.

Cary Middlecoff - 40 wins.

More recently:

Ken Perry, Adam Scott, Mike Weir, Bob Tway . .

It's almost too easy of a question because, outside of golf fanatics, there really aren't that many well known players.

It might seem odd to think that Adam Scott is not famous . .because he certainly is in some circles . .but my co-workers, non-golfing friends, grandma, etc could be standing in line right behind him in the supermarket and would have no idea who he is.

Basically, unless it's Tiger Woods, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicolas, Greg Norman, Lee Trevino or Gary Player - a lot of people will have no clue who they are.

You're talking about non-golf fans. I couldn't name 99% of MLB players or NBA players or virtually 100% of Nascar or MMA "players".

Which is exactly what the question asked...

I wouldn't say it's physically demanding, relatively speaking, but I wouldn't say it's easy either. It's certainly not easy for me, but hey, we can't all be champs.

I'm sure you honestly believe that.

Why does this easy walk around the course require athletes?

That lead to my "hypocrite" comment. Next time I'll add all relevant quotes.

What I should have said, and I apologize, is "Hypocrites" meaning, the people that THEY abhor ("they" meaning the typical sports fan turned off by hefty golfers) are the people drawn to the sport because of it's low fitness demand. Maybe "ironic" would have been a better choice of words.  I realize you were just playing devil's advocate.

I meant purely in the physically demanding sense.  By no stretch is golf an easy game.  It is probably the hardest game to master at a high level.
