For years, Colonial was top dog, and the Byron Nelson played second fiddle. The Nelson’s fundraising, coupled with Byron’s presence, elevated it for a while, but now both tournaments are smack dab in the middle of the May dead zone. Most players tee it up in Charlotte the week before the Players, and many will play the Memorial next week as a U.S. Open tune-up. That leaves this week and last week as the obvious weeks off.

Want proof? Kuchar and Mahan are the only players ranked in the top 10 who are teeing it up this week in Fort Worth.

Bet that thing's got a dime-sized wear mark right in the middle of the sweet spot.

That's quite the club haha. But there are a lot of events played in Texas that I never realized before.

I saw on Twitter that Vijay Singh is playing. I've always associated him with Colonial, probably because of the Sorenstam thing.

Only 2 of the top 10 are there yes, but you must remember Wentworth is this weekend which is the biggest event of the year for the Europeans so world #1,2,3 are all playing there which is no good for Colonial either :(

I think Kevin Na will have a good week

Dufner, Kuchar, Fowler is going to be a very interesting group to watch if you ask me :) All 3 players have been on fire the past couple weeks. Just wish the BMW PGA Championship wasnt going on this weekend as well. Should be an interesting tournament to say the least!

Its going to be very interesting to see how Kevin Na does now that he has "got rid of the waggle." He supposably cut his time per shot in half with his new pre-shot routine. My guess is hes going to do horrible since he is not fully comfortable with the new routine.

I hope Na has a good week too. I like him and he seems like a nice guy, just has mental problems

Don't forget about big JD, hes sitting at 2 under right now. I know most of this board hates him but I still got to root for him.

Na's Old Waggle - I refused to like him or root for him

Na's supposed new waggle - I respect him for the change and wish him the best.

Oosthuizen had another holed shot today...an eagle on the 18th. Great shot, great way to end a round.

I don't mind him. Dufner annoys me more than Na because sometimes Dufner (especially today) will just sit there for like an hour. Na will actually try to speed it up even though sometimes he fails.

Dufner isnt nearly as bad as Na was. Dufners more of 5 waggles and go. Na took that long pick out his line haha :)

There is just something about Dufner to me haha. But today Dufner took forever especially towards the end.

Really enjoyed watching the Kuchar, Duffner, Fowler group. Would have liked to see Kuchar play a little better, he's become my favorite over the past couple years. I followed him around on Sunday a couple years ago when he won at Turning Stone. You want a golf role model for your kids as far as attitude it's Matt Kuchar. Guy is always smiling and never blows his top when things get bad. Fowler is fun to watch as well as Dufner. Dufner's waggles are a bit quirky but that kid has a fantastic golf swing.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
