Hey all,

I bought a Cobra Amp 3 wood today and I am excited to get out and game it this weekend. Reviews are few and far between on this club. If you game it, let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

RLM

My wife just got the AMP driver and she loves it...

The AMPs look like solid clubs... I did a bag drop on it a few weeks ago. The only thing I don't like is the orange. Keep us posted on how you like it. You may even consider writing a member review on it considering there is so little info on it to help others down the road.

I tried it in the store and liked it. It was very close to what I am currently playing as far as numbers and feel so I had to put it down and just walk away. It had a good feel and look at set up. I would also like to hear how it does on the course.

I just traded in my TM r11 4 wood with a stiff flex for a like new demo 3 wood set to closed reg flex. Swing speed is between 83 and 90. I liked the way I was hitting the reg flex and am hoping I can get a consistent 206-216 yds on the course. Really solid feel. Anyone else have some feedback of last years Amp wood? Had the orange grip removed.

Well it seems I am having alot of issues hitting this club on an actual course. Most likely it is the horrible slice that has seemed to be passed down from my driver. Anyway pretty disapointed right now. 50g Rip shaft reg may have been the wrong choice for me. Will have at it again sunday. Hopefully I can start to adjust.

Any suggestions? Is this club even worth reshafting? Should I trade it in and go with a more forgiving 4 wood as opposed to the Amp 3 wood? Sorry for the re post just really frustrated with my performance with this club. It really brings out my swing flaws.

I decided not to give up on this club yet. However I did opt to have a new shaft put on. I went with a pro launch blue 65 gram reg flex shaft. From what I have read about this shaft I feel confident going into the weekend rounds. And because I am a loon with golf equipment I decided to have my Vr driver shaft swapped to the same. Wish me luck.

I love my AMP 3 wood.  Regular flex and getting 215 yds. with it off the tee and about 205 off the deck.

If you can get past the kind of ugly silver. It's is a great club. I started hitting it 275 off the tee and straight. Even stopped using my driver. The stiff shaft is a little whipy but overall very good feel and sound

I crush mine, driver like performance off the tee and easy to hit off the deck. I've had it a while, bought it late last summer, no complaints.

I just bought the 3 and 5 wood this past weekend.  I tried them at a local demo and wasn't overly impressed.   I told the rep that they just didn't feel right.   But...it was sleeting and snowing here.    Sunday, I tried them again at a different venue and hit them extremely well.  I was torn between the Cobra Amp and the Adams fairway woods.   I really couldn't tell much difference other than the weight.   The Adams were lighter.    Since I have the Encore ZL driver and it's red, I went with the two red fairway woods.   During the demo, I was able to hit them off of the deck for distance well.   I'm eager to get them out on the course when the weather breaks.

Second this. I am currently using the 2012 AMP 3W (Stiff) and I really like it a lot. The club has a very hot feel and a very, very damp sound. You're not getting that "ting" or "ping" sound with this club. It's more or less a hammer hitting a golf ball sound.

In all, I really like mine and I don't see it being replaced any time soon. I bought it last month and use it at least 2-3 times each round with no complaints.

Yeah I love the sound too. It's quiet but it always feels like the ball is being pounded. By the time you look up it's long gone. I must admit I recently bought the Cell driver and I'm still getting used to it after not using a driver for several months, but I'm not getting much more out of it than I do the 2012 3w. On good hit sure but the Amp 3w is a beast. I live in CO so take this with a grain of salt, distances are unusually long because of the elevation.

A bump just to mention DSG is offering 50% more trade for Dad's day. My 2012 Amp 3w was the last to be upgraded to the Cell. I traded my Amp 3w, Amp 4h, CG16 wedge and old PING putter I had sitting around. Tallied up to $136.50 trade and I walked out with the Cell 3-4w for $63.00. Solid trade allowance, as much or more than I would have got on ebay or CL with less hassle. As much as I liked the performance of the 2012 Amp the Cell is out of this world.

I have the Amp 3 wood for about a year, and have loved it off the tee, but it is a little bit long (43.5"!) for me off the deck.  I am thinking I might have upgrade to the Callaway Xtreme Razr Fit 4 wood.  16.5 deg with 42.75" in length.  Will see how it goes.

The shaft is definitely whippy and if I miss it is usually hard left (not my normal miss).  The other reason I am looking to change.

Golf tip from last season. On your fairway woods, hold at full length off the tee, but choke up an inch for control off the fairway.

But, if the Amp shaft is too whippy, a new club would in order.

Focus, connect and follow through!
