with fischer and a metric ton of draft picks things will turn around. sam bradford is the real deal he just needs someone to throw to and someone who will actually catch.

i've seen him make ridiculous tight window throws and watch it bounce off his guys hands.

the homerism is strong with you, but your team is far from dominant.

your arguments are beyond weak - what have dallas and philly done to all of the sudden make them better than the defending champs?

Like it or not, Eli is one of the elite QBs in the league - your hatred (jealousy, envy) of him blinds you.

dallas was one game away from winning the division and making the playoffs, they've added people and you've lost people so how is it so far fetched that they would win the division?

not to mention all philly needs to do is stay remotely healthy (a miracle) and they're NFC favorites.

how are either of those things weak?

the giants aren't a great team. they have great performances in crucial moments and eli has brady's number, but teams don't sit around and fear the giants.

no one is taking away the rings or saying they didn't earn them, but to just say they're the best the following year because they won is just plain silly. the phrase "any given sunday" has meaning.

eli is top 5 because of what he did last year, doesn't mean he'll be top 5 again when it's said and done this year. you can't accept that that's a possibility though, so your love is blinding you.

listen dude, this is the internet. you may get away with "the giants are the best because they won the super duper bowl" at the bar, but out here where stats, game tape, and info are a click away you're not going to slide on such a simplification.

I really like Bradford, and I like Fischer even more. I hope management and the owners don't get cold feet with him, regardless of what happens in the next few years. He's the sort of coach we can keep for the long haul. That's extremely important when building a team.

as a redskins fan i understand. the parade of coaches we walked through was laughable and yet even after a guy like zorn screws around you still have fans that wanted shanahan gone after year 1.

you have to keep the same nucleus and you have to have a vision for your team. you have pieces, but the clock has started on bradford before he gets gunshy. finnegan will bring some edge to your team on defense and i expect you guys to commit more to defense and running the ball. everyone knows SJax is a stud if he can stay healthy.

give your new coaches 3 years to turn it around, and don't worry about "overpaying" that phrase is overused. if finnigan brings an edge to your defense and makes plays then he's worth every penny.

plus the worse you do in the regular season (and the worse my team does) the more exciting draft day will become for you.

As a Raiders fan I can say that up until this years draft I have never been excited for draft day. Unless of course the fastest player in the draft was actually really good.

Yeah, you get sick of looking forward to April after a while!

But, as you prob know, we have some solids on D as well. Long delivers, so does Laurinitis. That's two out of 11, but that's something! A lot of football D can make up for the lack of talent in schemes. Which is why Greg going is such a huge deal - though I just drank the kool aid on him, I can't personally vouch for his coordinating skills.

Finnegan was a great signing, hopefully our first pick turns out to be a stud. If I'm not mistaken, pretty sure we got a good signing for outside backer as well... can't find it on the webs though so I might be wrong.

Found it. Rocky McIntosh. Not a Suggs by any means, but guy is solid.

Sounds like the 2013 draft will be an exciting one for the Redskins.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Obviously you are just trying to justify your mancrush on Romo. And the *dream team* in philly must have been day dreaming through last season. Vick is not a good QB - the best thing to happen to atlanta was him being locked up.

Stats are for losers - you can pull stats out of your ass from now until the cows come home - stats do not win games. I am guessing that you are one of those fantasy dorks that roots for players on an enemy team if it is going to win you your fake game.

The Giants are the best coached team in the division, have the best d-line, 2 of the best receivers and the best QB. There are some question marks at 3rd WR, TE and LB - questions that they have managed to answer year after year - there is nothing in dallas or philly that puts fear into a giants fan.

Eli is top 5 period - what other QB  in the last 5 years has won 2 super bowls? Better yet who (other than Ben) has in recent history without an asterisk next to them?

they actually have had some decent drafts the last two years IIRC. i know al may have been a laughingstock for some of the things he did but he helped create what the NFL is today and he always wanted to see his team win. there are plenty of teams that have cheap owners who are merely trying to turn a profit and not doing whatever it takes to win.

i went to OSU and i've met lauranitis (he's shorter than i thought he was). my wife has a huge crush on him, but he is a great player. your secondary is what kills you, i think you had about 20 guys start at corner last year so finnegan was a desperate need. williams was our d coordinator for several years, but when gibbs left for the second time there was a reason that gregg wasn't promoted. whispers are attitude conflict with the owner or the fact that everyone knew about bounties and didn't want to be involved without gibbs as a shield. he had some great seasons and he tanked a few, but he is a players coach and will get the most out of guys, as long as he's reinstated. if not you can always have haslett back next year. rocky was a redskin his whole career, decent player, and that's about it for us. he never seemed to stand out and often times his replacement would easily outshine him. i don't know who your previous 'backer was, but rocky is pretty good talent wise so it's probably an upgrade.

his team owns our first rounder, that's why i said the worse our season goes the better his draft will be.

i've given up. obviously you cannot use any logic or facts to change his opinion. i mean as a redskins fan i'm obviously a huge tony romo fan and the only person in the world who thinks that romo and eli are close ability wise (even though it's written about every day since eli won his first SB).

the giants are the best coached team, as long as their coach is about to get fired. otherwise they hate everything about him and don't play for him. best d-line. debatable between philly and NY, redskins and cowboys play a different defense (not that meenman would understand) so it's moot to compare them. receivers? how about we give a guy like cruz more than 1 year and hakeem nicks stays healthy. so far dez is a whole lot of hype and talent, but a complete diva and miles austin is the reason i say we give cruz more time because guys do flash. desean is a deep threat and that's it and maclin is the better receiver.

the comment about answering year and after year is just silly though because they don't even make the playoffs regularly so obviously they aren't answering those questions, not to mention RB is probably one of the most important issues and is what killed you until the playoffs last year.

but this is all just useless talk for now, let's wait until the regular season and see how things shake out.

don't worry meenman i'll remind you when the games are on.

The whole thing with viacom was kind of weird - usually there are a ton of commercials when a channel may go - was kind of lost last night when I saw that comedy central was gone

they did this whole dance with fx last year and it got sorted out last minute apparently and i never missed anything, i couldn't believe they let this one lapse.

at least i got to watch tosh and workaholics before it cut off, even if there were three lines of arguing with each under underneath the show.

    • Eh... what's he going to say? "Hey, I bought a new driver. It's 10 yards shorter and I hit twice as many OB now." Does he have any data to back up his claim? Or is he just going by what he saw at his fitting?  I've been using either Shotscope or Arccos since 2018 and if there's one thing I've learned is that it's the archer not the arrow. When I'm hitting the driver well, it goes far and straight. When I'm a mess, it's a mess.  If you were properly fit for a driver in the last (dare I say 10 years) 5 years for sure. I'd be surprised if you can get more than a couple of yards out of it by getting a new one. The COR rule has been 0.83 since 1998, with widespread and standardized enforcement since 2003. Obviously, the engineers can still optimize spin and launch and shaft flex and/or kick point. So there are things that can be done. But I believe the days of 10 or 15 yard gains are over... unless your current driver is unfit for you. (as @Typhoon92 mentions above.) If you were fit for your epic. You will likely see very little on course performance difference.  Having said that, I get a new driver every 2 or 3 years... Why? Because I like shiny things. So, if you want a new driver, get a new driver.
    • My suggestion to you is to take your driver with you and go to a golf store where you can hit the new Ping 440 AND your own driver side by side.  They you can decide.  Very simple test you can do for free. You have no idea ( and your friend probably doesn’t either) how old his old driver was, what loft it was compared to the new one, what shaft and flex he had in his old driver vs. the new one.
    • I might be inclined to try to figure out what is bothering them. Is it that their index is 12 but they're only getting 10 strokes? If that's the case then I think I would just point out that their handicap is being adjusted for the difference between par and the course rating. It's adjusting for this course being easier than typical for the par. Course rating being roughly what a scratch should shoot on a good day and par being the sum of the numbers on the card. The whole concoction (which Erik and Dave explained already) is simply a way to get everyone to play on an even playing field. So if everyone plays to their handicap, then they'll all have the same net score. The adjustments are there mainly for those instances where something more complicated is happening like playing different sets of tees, but still apply otherwise. It's also easiest to say "your handicap index is 12.4, which means you should shoot 10 over par to play to your handicap" rather than "your handicap index is 12.4, which means you should shoot 12.4 over the course rating after adjusting for the slope", which is a whole lot of gobbledygook to people who don't know how the system works.
