When I'm 65 yards away, for example, I have a tough time translating that distance to how much backswing to apply. If I had a higher lofted club that I could go 3/4 with and get ~60 yards, and another to get ~40 yards, that would be nice. Getting closer gaps inside of 100 yards would help me get more birdie/par putt opportunities where currently I put myself too far away because of the 90 yard range I have with my 50* AW.

I'd recommend going with the 54* and either a 58* or a 60*. Look for a 54* with bounce around 10-12* and a 60 with lower bounce, around 6 or 7. That will give you good gaps and a lot of versatility around the green and within 100yards.

Another option, if your more inclined to only pick up 1 wedge, is getting a 55 or 56* with a multiple bounce sole like the Cobra Trusty Rusty or Taylor Made ATV.

I have a 56* with 10 degrees of bounce and a 52* with 8 degrees.  The spacing of 4* seems about right.  If you want to save some $$ check out the Lynx LXW @ Golfsmith.  Originally $80, they're on closeout along with the 60* for $20 each.

I ended up with the TaylorMade RAC 56.12 and 60.07. Dick's had a deal for 2 at $100. I intended to just get the 56*, but picked up the 60* with the sale and figure I'll work it into my game over time. Thanks for all of the feedback.

Thanks. I went out to the range last night and got some time with them. I really liked hitting both and find that they'll fit into my sub-100 yard gaps very well. Hitting that 60* is pretty crazy when you're used to a 50* at the most. The way it rockets upward is pretty awesome. I found that these two wedges really make divots where my current irons really don't. No difference in the swing, so I'm not sure where that comes from. I worked around the green with the 60* as well and was pretty inconsistent with it. Some shots would be really short, others right on within 3 feet, and others way past the cup. Just a matter of practice but it's going to take some time adjusting from a 50* for those chips, that's for sure.

    • That is a bit hyperbolic, I think. Most despicable is a bit much.  Again, a bit over the top here.  Most athletes are probably closer to being normal human beings than degenerates and avaricious scum.  Just sounds like you want to generalize all athletes because it is easy to do so. Hey, generalizing a subset of a population is entirely a human thing to do.
    • This is so awesome; my two biggest lifetime hero and the biggest superstars of the past 35 years in golf……both turned out to be the two of the most despicable human beings in professional sports… Between this and everyone whoring themselves out for Saudi Arabia… Used to love golf because I thought they were smarter, better people than the other sports. Turns out a huge percentage of them are total degenerates and avaricious scum like every other sport!
