I haven't used the Vokey wedges, but I have just recently been using a milled face wedge and it has been fantastic. And I don't think anyone could disagree with the quality of any Titleist golf equipment.

The only complaint anybody could have about the Vokey's is that they chew balls...and I can live with that....for the price of my ball sitting down next to the hole like its got Velcro attached to it.

After having used the CG12 54.12 and a 60.10 Black Pearl for the last few months, for me, the CG12's have a somewhat higher trajectory, less spin but enough for most folks, are more forgiving on slight misses, much easier on golf balls, and have a slightly better feel than the Vokey Spin Milled. The Vokey Spin Milled is probably the best looking wedge on the market, or at the very least one of the best, beautiful to look at but the CG12 has a good look to it. Over all I have to vote for the CG12.

I have cg12's (50*,54*) and they are great for pitching and sand.
They did a great job with the sand wedge. I pretty much can scoop the ball out with a soft half swing and it is always pure and effortless. They are great for people who want the ball to stop where it lands on a full shot.

However, for a 60 degree, i find the vokey spin mill has a great edge over the cg12. On pure half swings outta the fairway the vokey will check like non other. It is a VERY playable club that looks great and feels flush. But, when u get to lower degrees like 54, on full swings the ball will get alot of action and spin back at least 3-4 feet.

I myself prefer the Vokey's because of the look and feel. However, if you are already a very high spin player, the vokey might add too much spin for you.

Have a 54 CG12 with 12 degrees bounce, like the club, had it for one year and used often, grooves still are very "sharp". It is my 105 yd club, dont really like it from less distance because of the bounce, usually use the titleist 704cb wedge for most of the close stuff.

I think the "feel" is mostly in your head. So says Bob Vokey, anyway...

Ive used both...the vokeys feel much better in my style of play. they are great from any lie. the control is amazing. and yes, watchout for soft balls to be eaten up on full shots.

It looks better. You have more feel around the greens and 100 yards away from the green. Over all better club.

Please compare these two wedges. Which do you prefer? Why?

I play the CG12 52*/10* and the Vokey SM 58*/12*.

Each have certain qualities and I use them under different circumstances obviously. The Cleveland hits the ball a lot more 'clean' if that makes any sense. On a scale of 1-10, spin is a 9 and control is a 10 for me. I can stop a shot out of a moderate rough at as little as 100 yards within 3 feet. Shorter than that, it will roll a little more. Fairway shots produce more spin of course. I do not play the Vokey (which doubles as a SW) unless I am within 70 yards. I play V1x, and it can cause more back spin than I want when struck full (for me 90 yards). If the green is sloping even slightly towards you, it is very easy to hit 1/3 to 1/2 into the green only to end up on the front fringe. However, on short chips from around the green to 30 yards out, it is priceless. You can flop over a bunker from some thick grass and hold the ball really well, even if the green is sloping away. So for this, I love it. I'd be interested to see if the Cleveland 58* has similar characteristics. One thing I will say to differentiate the two, I love taking the Cleveland out of the bag on a shot. A lot of times I wish I had been a little farther or closer to the green just so I could play the Cleveland as opposed to the PW or Vokey. The Vokey SM is probably not something that everyone would like, but I could not imagine anyone not liking the Cleveland 52* that I play. Hope this helps, any questions, let me know.

I use the SM's for pitch and putt golf because of the rock hard greens they have. I find after getting use to the Clevelands, the SM's feel like surgical instruments whilst the CG12's feel abit blunt... However, I am much more consistent with the CG12's (hitting off grass) and they are easier out of the rough and sand. All in all i prefer the CG12's for proper golf where i don't require rediculous amounts of spin.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
