Also, I see many 'skins' worthy posts here, but 90% of the time I'm on my iPad and can't give one. I try to remember who deserves what when I sit down at a desktop PC, but I'm old and not that smart to begin with, so there's that, too.

Not a shot at anyone, just a general playful jab I thought would be funny given the nature of your conversation.  For the record, I take no sides in the Vegas air debate.  I have only golfed there one time, and I only remember one thing about it; Sam Rothstein's (Robert Deniro character) house in 'Casino' was right on the course.  I was waiting for the green to clear on one hole just staring at it, thinking 'man, that looks really familiar.'  Had to go back and watch the movie again to confirm.

there should be a retrospective video with dramatic music. his original claim and swing video overlayed with posts of derision and vitriol set to carnival music, then it begins to build in dramatic and brooding fashion as questions of his integrity escalate and people claim he's a permanent no show, only to climax at the posting of the trackman results and then fading silently as the congratulations pour in and detractors slink off into the night.

I don't think I'd be hauling it to Vegas to golf if I lived in L.A., either. The sweet golfing season is just around the corner here, though. In fact, I played 27 today because the weather was so perfect: It only got to ~100, but there was a little breeze blowing

We were oh-so-close to moving to San Diego instead of Vegas. In the end, we couldn't fade the state income tax, so here we are. Don't mind the heat so much, but I imagine that it'll be brisk Dec.-Feb. on the course, especially where I play (I hear that wind howls, too - already got a few doses of that). I guess that's why they invented those ultra hot propane heaters that fall out of the cup holder and burn a hole in the cart windshield. I've played a few hundred rounds with those...guess I'll be breaking it out again this winter.

I don't disbelieve that someone can hit a ball 300 or more. I am just puzzled as to why anyone would want to say so. It's like saying  'I have a new Porsche or a solid gold Rolex'  or both.

It's information that's hard to process, I believe you, why wouldn't I, but what response do you want?  Gosh how lucky or skilful or strong you are , wish I could do that or own those ?

Since most people do not generally hit that distance I can only think big deal , so what , shall I send money?

Again the meaning of the post was not to telling people I could hit 300+. It was just me defending myself about statements I made in other posts. None of witch where I hit a drive 300+. I good example was me talking about a shot I hit on a par 4 measuring 311 on that day.

There was a post talking about reaching shorter par 4's in one shot. I had never hit a par 4 green at the time in one shot, but did have what I thought was a good shot on one. Hole 16, par 4 measuring 311 on that particular day. I hit a good shot straight at the pin but it faded, landing about 30 yards from the green, even with the pin. I thought it would be ok to mention a shot like this in that thread because it was on topic and I wanted to share my experience. Well right after I posted it, I was bashed and called every name in the book, including a straight up liar. When I asked why it was unbelievable I made that shot? The response was, you would have had to hit the ball at least 300 yards and a new golfer with that high of a handicap can't hit 300+. I was continually made fun of in the post as I tried to defend myself and the thread was quickly getting off topic. This same exact thing happened in another thread a couple days later about me hitting a long ball. Again, constant name calling with me defending myself dragging on and on disrupting yet another post.

That is the reason for this post.

Now maybe next time a say "I hit the green on a 311 yard par 4 today, but missed my eagle put". Some jerkoff  wont call me a delusional liar, and continue to berate me in every post they put in thread there after. Maybe they will just say, good shot next time.To bad you didn't make the put.

Okay, I agree with ValleyGolfer, I am a novice (about 2 years) and my swing speed is probably about 105 as well. When (if) I hit it pure, it seems to only go to about 240 (public course fairways) or sometimes 260 yards with lots of roll.

Otherwise, it mostly goes straight (sometimes a light fade), but really high. I am lucky to get it to 200 yards, because the ball gets about 100 to 120 yards of vertical distance as well.

Now, I probably should post this on another thread, but I am going to ask you folks, here, anyway.

I hit my 3 and 5 fairway woods reasonably far (5 goes about 200 (avg) to 220 if I get it perfect, and 3 goes anywhere from 220 (avg) to 240 if a good hit). This is off the deck, if I tee it up they go really high as well, and I lose about 10 yards for every 1/4" I tee it up in the same way as the driver.

I need help with my setup and positioning of the ball, and the little alignment target on the driver. I have watched many videos and my kids coaches drive. There seems to be no common position to setup the ball relative to the club.

First of all, the driver feels really heavy and awkward compared to the 3 and 5 woods. Is this normal?

Secondly, how do you align the ball relative to the club head: X, Y and Z axis? It seems that setting it up farther out is better as the arms "stretch" out during the swing. Or is this incorrect thinking?

I have experimented with about 200 balls over a five different practice sessions, and have not found an optimum position to setup the ball. I tried teeing up lower, higher and hold the club off the ground during setup. Setting up the club centered on the alignment target on the club head, and near the toe. Weak grip, strong grip, and various neutral grips. All with the same results.

What do you think is going on? If a video is requested, I will re-post this on another thread.

There where, and probably still are members on the forum that actually said... "A person that's only been golfing for 3 months, with a handicap of 27 or higher. Cannot under any circumstance, hit a ball 300 yards." That's just crazy talk and the thread is viable for them alone lol.

You can tell by the popularity of the thread, that the subject needed to be talked/debated over. It also shows how easy it is to rack up pages of back and forth bickering that can easily ruin threads. This thread however is the perfect place for it and that's why I made it.

We have roughly the same swing speed, as far as you have mentioned. But it is possible your speed is higher if you are not enclosed in a tiny stall at golfsmith where you would measure it. I feel like I need to back off my swing so nothing bad can happen inside the swing speed measurement stall. However, I still have issues with high ball flight. Your video does not show high ball flight. Is it possible that a 105ss could get 300 yards with a low penetrating ball flight? I don't know. I recall making it to the front of the fairway bunker on a par 4 320 yards once from the tee box, but I assumed my shot over the trees of the dogleg shortened the shot by 40 yards or more. Nevertheless, 240 to 260 yards is a long way, and most of the time I don't see where it lands, exactly. I can only tell by the feel of the shot, and from what I observed on the range where I hit the back fence. However, I need to fix my high shot. Help...

Not sure if we have the same SS? 105 was my estimated SS from dicks and some internet math haha. My actual SS turned out to be 115 average.

From what I've learned during this post, it's looks like a 105SS with ideal ball flight will carry 263 and roll out to about  296 total. At sea level.

And the Rolex? Man, a Timex keeps better time, so if you value punctuality, buy something with a quartz crystal. There are many reasons for saying many things. The OP was never bragging, but you'd know that if you'd read the thread carefully.
