Here's another thought. Stress has been known to cause women to go into labor. Could Elin have been watching the final round and it put her over the top? They would not induce for the sake of his schedule unless there was a 0% chance of any complications. Generally you want that baby to have as much time in "the oven" as possible.

I think it's great that he's a Dad. With the way his father raised him, he will be a wonderful and inspirational effect on his daughter.

Nope. He didn't know for certain they'd deliver the kid three weeks early. She could have been released from the hospital and had the kid in two or three weeks.

Perhaps that would have been unusual, but even my wife went in to the hospital early and then was sent home. She had my daughter two weeks early, but her visit was two weeks before that.

He did know his wife was in the hospital. So yeah, I think it affected him.

He says it didn't. I'll take his word for it over yours.

I don't believe him either.

But I appreciate him not blaming his loss on the fact his wife. That is a class act in my opinion. He lost, and he isn't blaming it on anything other then himself. That is the way it should be.

C'mon Erik... I love reading your posts because I tend to agree with you and believe you are usually dead on but just bite the bullet and admit you weren't in Tiger's head this time. I'm on record as saying I don't think it affected his play either and still don't but apparantly he knew his wife was in the hospital with pregnancy complications. Obviously he didn't know for sure the baby would be born early but he knew

something was up. All the conversation in here prior to this news referred to him really not knowing anything. You even went as far as to say he hung around for a while afterwards, implying he didn't even know she was in the hospital. The original comments (not made by me) were regarding his mental state being affected by the upcoming child birth. OK, so he didn't know for sure he was going to be a Dad by Tuesday, or whatever day it was but his wife being in the hospital with complications could have the same mental affect, couldn't it? Again, I think he was as focused as ever, so I agree with you, but at least admit that it is possible he was distracted rather than dismissing those comments as simply incorrect.

Tiger said it didn't affect him (which was the original question). I don't need to be in his head - he said as much, and I'm fairly certain he was in his head.

Sam was born early, and Elin went in for something related to pregnancy but not because she was ready to give birth or anything. Oftentimes when you have a complication near to term, they birth the child anyway. May as well. Again, Tiger took his time getting to Orlando, but once there, they said "hey, why not?" As excited as Tiger was to be a father, if he honestly thought that he would be as soon as he got to Orlando, he'd get there faster than he did.
but apparantly he knew his wife was in the hospital with pregnancy complications.

Nobody's denying that, obviously.

You even went as far as to say he hung around for a while afterwards, implying he didn't even know she was in the hospital.

That's not what it implies to me. It implies that he wasn't in a great rush. He did hang around longer than he absolutely needed to. That is well established. It implies that he knew she was safe.

at least admit that it is possible he was distracted rather than dismissing those comments as simply incorrect.

Tiger says he wasn't. So, given the lack of contrary evidence (it's not like he shot 80), I have to take his word for it: he wasn't distracted. Anyone who says differently is arguing with the one guy in the world who would know.

As Charles Davis said last night on the 19th Hole (no Steve Duemig, yay!!!!), it was classy of Tiger not to mention it, because it would have shifted the attention from the winner (Angel Cabrera) to Tiger and Elin and all that. Classy move.

    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
    • That truly had me laughing. Thanks If anyone is interested Sun Day Red is live. I clicked on the hats, seem they are sold out. Shorts 130 bucks, shirts 120, everything seems to be sold out already, at least from what I clicked on. 130 for shorts, I'll pass.
    • I stopped reading after that to say "yes."
    • Wasn't he bitching a while back because he couldn't get a tee time at Augusta?

How many times has someone tried to hit it with a golf ball? How many times has someone tried to steal it? How many times have the owners called the cops on any of the above mentioned items? How many of the above mentioned items have you been directly involved in?
