Took a lesson to tune up the swing after a long break.

I was leaking to the right a little bit.

He suggested I might be moving forward in the downswing, which leaves the club face open at impact.

He also said make sure to start the downswing with the hips, and not the hands/arms.

He also said to address the ball with more weight on the back foot (60/40).

This one was new to me, and I'm not even sure how to do that.

Otherwise, everything else looked good.

Sorry to say but I disagree.  Pressure or "weight" needs to be forward at impact, that's how we hit the ball solid and the best way to  deliver the clubhead to create an outward (in to out) path.  The average PGA Tour player has between 80-95% of his pressure on his front foot at impact. The average amateur has 55%.  Some amateurs get to 70 or even 75%, but many will be backing out of the shot and the 75% number comes earlier in the downswing.  Some of the best ball strikers have the face aimed right at impact but the path is just further out so they can hit draws with the weight well forward.

Good thread to check out.  Not trying to prove your instructor wrong, just sharing some information.

He is correct that you start the downswing with the hips though, atleast thats what ive always been taught.
Backswing goes: hands first then arms then shoulders then hips and downswing is reverse, hips first then shoulders then arms then hands. Saying that though it all happens so fast that it feels like everything moves together on the backswing but when your hips move first on the downswing it triggers everything else to move with them, your arms will drop automatically as you push your weight/hips forward.

OP - Did your instructor go into detail about what he meant by "moving forward" on your downswing? Were you coming out of your spine angle, thus getting stuck and blocking your shots to the right? The suggestion by Mvmac to get to your left side at impact is valid, but I wonder if that is exactly what your instructor was talking about.

I think he meant I was sliding forward towards the target.  Head, etc.

He said if I am sliding towards the target, I will leave the face open, and block it right / slice

Yeah having the head go forward too much is a no, no.  Sorry if I mis-understood

I start my back swing by feeling that my right shoulder blade is pulling backwards under my neck (to the halfway position) If I lead with hands, my takeaway can be a bit sporadic

    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
