Ive been getting splitting headaches at the driving range recently. I dont really get headaches when playing a round or really doing anything else. Has anyone else experienced this? I think I might be swinging a little hard. Not sure if its a mental thing, because it happens mostly when I hit on mats.

Could be repetition, could be mental, I could have a brain tumor, who knows. Just wondering if anyone else gets headaches after repeatedly hitting over and over.

Are you hitting at night? Those halogen lights can be a little brutal if they are poorly focused.

Naw, it could be the heat though. Not really sure. It's just wierd that it mostly happens on mats and never when I am actually golfing. Only at the range.

hahahaha...+1

All joking aside, it could be your swing.  If you're coming down on the ball and hitting off the mats the recoil might be effecting you.  I'm just speculating though since I've never heard of anyone having this issue before.

you could be stressing out to much. I have a tedency to get frustrated after hitting to many uglies. Find the 1 shot that youhit well and relax. Enjoy the moment and see if that makes a difference.

I think I am getting a lot of recoil. I want too frustrated today. Only frustration came from having the headache. Who knows. I would think is a health problem if it happened any where else besides the driving range. I am very active though, so it's weird that I don't get it when playing hockey or working out putting stress on my body.

I see a lot of people at the range in such a hurry.. I take time to relax a bit, even if its a few more seconds between hits to compose myself and try to think of in-game situations.. blah blah.

I think I might grit my teeth when I swing. My headache is nearly gone, but I have pain in my jaw now. Maybe I have TMJ lol.

There are times when I've found myself clenching my jaw and had to take a moment to relax at the range.

If I still can't relax, I take off my pants.

I get headaches when I don't stay hydrated or haven't eaten.  I'm in SoCal near the Ocean and it can get into the mid 80's - and the hottest I've seen is low 90's.  But even at those temperatures, when your out banging balls with no shade or cover... It can take a tool on you.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and eat something.  I usually try and take a bottled water - and sometimes an energy drink + protein bar to snack on when I'm at the range here and it is blazing.

I realized that I hasn't drank any soda today. I normally drink Pepsi as soon as I get to work (not a coffee person) and I get headache when I don't drink caffeine. Who knows, I probably have a tumor lol

You may have a tumor but you also have a caffeine addiction!  Not as hard to break as nicotine but still a painful 3-4 days if you do try to go without it.

Are you staying hydrated? Are you hitting without taking breaks? Do you go at a time that it's hot and not drinking? Are you drinking the wrong thing? Did you drink alcohol the day before and not get rehydrated?

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
