Just in case no one has seen it yet... link to live stream of Tiger and Rory playing in a few hours from China at 'The Duel' from Jinsher.

Should be good?

It's pretty special to see number one play number two in any sport. Both guys in great form. It's not a headline comp, so I figure they'll be a bit relaxed but still wanting to win. Should be a great game.

Shame about the time for those in the 'wrong' hemisphere!

I'm watching this on TV now. I live in Thailand and the main cable provider is really good at carrying golf events like these. I have the feeling we have the SKY sports feed, since the event is using European Tour commentators.

Rory's short game is outstanding today, he is looking much better than he did when he was matched up against Tiger in Turkey.

I got to see the Turkey event too, they carried it here in Thailand as well.

The course is super foggy and the event is half circus, with the gallery walking on the greens behind Rory and Tiger.

Finally started working after about an hour - pretty good, tho.  It's interesting to hear them talking in between holes.  I caught at least 1 Tiger fbomb so far - but I've been doing some programming on the other screen so probably missed a few as well

If it's not worthy of being broadcast in the USA.......that's saying something.

It was kind of good, though. It definitely wasn't a "battle" - more like a friendly round but still pretty interesting to watch. To Buckey's comment, it would have been unwatchable for most people. There is a lot of time spent walking between shots and the talk between the players and caddies is not quite compelling enough to make it through 3 hours (or whatever it was.) Edited, it would make a great 1 hour show - ala Wonderful World of Golf.

Tiger did say he'd like to go one-on-one with Rory more often. So there's that.

The Turkish Airlines Medal match play event of two weeks ago was also apparently not worthy of being broadcast in the US, and that ended up being one of my favorite events of the year.

So much for the USA as the barometer of what is worthy. lol.

Sorry new here, I replied but I don't see it posted, so forgive me if I double post.

When Tiger and Rory played two weeks ago in the Turkish Airlines Championship, that event wasn't broadcast in the US, but it ended up being one of my favorite events of the year.

This was worth watching, I liked hearing some of the conversation between Tiger and Rory in between shots.

I was expecting match play, surprised that it wasn't. There was no sponsorship money from commercials, so no reason I can think of to ensure it went the full 18 holes.

Because match play can end after fewer than 18 holes, while stroke play can see bigger swings in matches over shorter spans of holes? Just a guess.

18 holes at match play is kind of fluky.

I was driving to San Diego this morning for a meeting... And I heard that Tiger said he wasn't happy with Foley on air.  That he was hitting his short irons too far, and taking huge divots.  They also said Rory swung Tigers Nike clubs too.  Adding to the rumors that Rory is going to be a Nike guy soon.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
