I like the Whip ... but let's not introduce swing instruction to it... Warning To Others: Hardy's version of a one plane swing is his version.

While I respect your opinion, 75 of the top 100 instructors in the country teach with the Orange Whip to allow their students to FEEL the proper athletic motion of the swing. 1/3 of the PGA Tour players who kept their card this year use the Whip as well. Not everyone has the utmost knowledge of the golf swing, but if they can make a proper motion with good balance, tempo and sequence, in our opinion, they are more likely to hit it longer and straighter. Where are you located? I would be happy to point you to a dealer to try one out.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes ... but this Whip adds to sensitivity as to what the body is doing, helps rhythm and balance, and when the instructor is away, it supplements what he can do ... besides, a $10 discount is nice if you're going to purchase. It's a nicely balanced product.

Hey Dan, can you send me the DVD? :-)

A lot of good instructors use training aids... So I'm not sure where you're going with this. :)

I put use of good training aids in the same category of a good instructor, they are the ones who should be recommending them

But, just because 75/100 top instructors use it, doesn't mean its good, it could mean they all make a crap load of money off selling it :p

Since i never used the Orange Whip before, i wouldn't know if those 75 instructors are right or not

The inventor of the product, Jim Hackenberg (on TST: Jimorangewhip) and myself, are both PGA members. We originally promoted through the PGA and to golf instructors as Jim created it to help with his own teaching, and wanted to show it to other golf instructors. When first creating the product, he did not envision selling it in a retail market, he just wanted to use it in his lessons. When his members wanted to buy them, the idea for launching a business came along and since then we have not paid one instructor or one tour player to use the product.

Feel free to respond here or send me a PM with your approximate location and I would be happy to point you towards our nearest retailer to try it out.

Sounds good, I'm just suspicious about training aids, so many people can go out there and claim something and the thing could be crap.

Just so many training aids out there, its scary. I love the scene in Tin Cup were she has on all those training aids trying to get better at golf. Then later on Tin Cup is wearing the same training aids because he has the shanks, so funny

My instructor has every training aid I've seen on the market, seriously. His reason is some people respond to different methods and tools of training. I get more from watching my swing videos than anything but I'd use whatever if I thought it would make me a better golfer.

I agree with you about so many training aids on the market. I could go on about why I feel like the Orange Whip and the Orange Peel are the best, however I just encourage you to keep an open mind and try them out. You can find the Whip at Golfsmith, PGA Superstore, Golf Galaxy, Roger Dunns, Golf Mart and other stores and golf shops around the country.

You don't need anything hanging from your hat brim to train an athletic motion with your Orange Whip ;)

    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
