Thanks and I hope everyone had a great Christmas,

Kind of what we're trying to get at with the set-up adjustments.  When the weight is on the heels, eyes up, the forearms will tend to rotate too much too soon and the club gets inside the hands.  I want to see less forearm rotation and the hands go slightly in, which will keep the club head from rolling inside.  The forearms will rotate less with the better set-up.  To me this is the first step.

Wow!. All along I thought the idea was to have a straight spine(You know, I hear mom saying "Sit up straight, Straighten up young man") And now after looking at the video(Thanks for the effort with that), I see that a slight roll in my back will get me in the proper position to make a good swing. I like most have a slight curve to my back and it has been an effort to keep it straight. Now all I have to do is suck in(tighten my stomach) and relax my neck.........Heck, I'm doing it as I type........like Kagels for the wife

Thanks Mike.

Well, I turn 50 next month and I plan on bringing my index down to 4 by March and enter a few local events and then get my index down to 2 by Sept. It's a pipe dream but a close friend(scratch golfer) who played in a few amateur events is convinced that with my flexibility, length of the tee and competitive drive I could make a good showing. I think he's crazy but it will be a fun experiment.

But hey, if I take a few more $$'s in my weekend outings, I'd be happy.

Nice! Just happy to help, yeah the set-up can be an important piece.  Lots of incorrect information out there about it.  Lots of reasons.  Here's a couple.  Take a look at all the hall of famers at impact, all have that rounded look, so why would you set up and then have to change that radius?  Makes sense to be able to look at the ball.  Straight back makes that hard to do.  Also better for the body.

Tip for increasing my swing speed from this position? My ss dropped from 110 to 104. Should I be concerned or will that increase with repetition and confidence?

Okay Mike, I implemented your tummy tuck relaxed spine and neck.

I just don't feel like I can accelerate through the ball. I feel as though I am pulling the club through and not "Hitting" the ball.

Advice from here?

I don't necessarily believe you swing 110

My advice? Actually do what Mike suggested.

Your knees are a bit straighter. Your chin is still too high, your back too straight, and your weight too far into the heels.

You almost seem to have done the opposite in your back.

That screen grab is not my position before starting the swing. I am trying to implement Mike's suggestions. As for my SS, Trackman listed my Club head speed at 110 with my old long and quick swing and now I am at 104 club head speed.

Thanks for the advice and sorry for the confusion over the SS.

Maybe there was a miscommunication or something.  Like Erik said, back looks straighter and more tense than the before pic.  Review that video or thread and compare these pics.  It's more than just tilting the neck down, it's getting the back to be softer so the arms can hang and not have to be stretched out.  If the back is too straight and the arms are too straight the weight gets on the heels, which can effect the takeaway, the clubhead gets inside the hands and then the arms have to lift to complete the backswing.

My bad on the implementation. I find a problem with my arms. Like an ape, i am 5'9" tall and my span is 6'2". I tried letting my arms hang but felt crowded and fatted every swing. The back thing I have to really work on. I know this swing is and will be a "HUGE" departure from my original swing and I am very encouraged with how my iron swing has become like breathing. This change will take a lot of reps and reinforcement and I know we are laying a foundation.

So my question becomes, in moving in to the ball and relaxing my arms and lower back, what should I feel as I transition from the top of my swing into the slot?

Thanks again for everyone's help and blessing for a Happy 2013.

It was before your swing (you did tuck your chin a tiny bit, yes), and I think you'll generally find that Mike and I are on the same page with things. :)

Agreed. I definitely learn by seeing and feel so it will take some time to get in the positions y'all are talking about. I just have to get past.the "odd" feel and focus on a solid base to swing from.

If it doesn't feel odd, you've probably not changed anything.

    • A 5400 yd course is not that short for gents driving it 160 yards considering the approach shot lengths they are going to be faced with on Par 4s.  Also, for the course you are referring to I estimate the Par 4s have to average longer than 260 yds, because the Par 5s are 800 yds or so, and if there are four Par 3s averaging 130 the total is 1320 yds.  This leaves 4080 yds remaining for 12 Par 4s.  That is an average of 340 per hole. Anyway, if there are super seniors driving it only 160ish and breaking 80 consistently, they must be elite/exceptional in other aspects of their games.  I play a lot of golf with 65-75 yr old seniors on a 5400 yd course.  They all drive it 180-200 or so, but many are slicers and poor iron players.  None can break 80. I am 66 and drive it 200 yds.  My average score is 76.  On that course my average approach shot on Par 4s is 125 yds.  The ten Par 4s average 313 yds.  By that comparison the 160 yd driver of the ball would have 165 left when attempting GIR on those holes.
    • I don't think you can snag lpga.golf without the actual LPGA having a reasonable claim to it. You can find a ton of articles of things like this, but basically: 5 Domain Name Battles of the Early Web At the dawn of the world wide web, early adopters were scooping up domain names like crazy. Which led to quite a few battles over everything from MTV.com You could buy it, though, and hope the LPGA will give you a thousand bucks for it, or tickets to an event, or something like that. It'd certainly be cheaper than suing you to get it back, even though they'd likely win. As for whether women and golfers can learn that ".golf" is a valid domain, I think that's up to you knowing your audience. My daughter has natalie.golf and I have erik.golf.
