I use Pro V1X, even with my slow swing speed. It does help me get some spin, but when I play Pro V1, I don't get enough.

When you're capable of spinning the ball as much as I do at times, you'd be glad you're not using a Pro V1 if it were to hit the green, spin backwards off the front end, down the hill and into a lake. But that's just me, I suppose.

then why use a spin milled wedge instead of just a 200 series?

then why use a spin milled wedge instead of just a 200 series?

Just bought the spin-milled wedge yesterday. Couldn't find a 200 series in the loft and (lack of) bounce that I wanted. I can use a V1x just fine with everything else, though. Even though I played 9 holes I never had a chance to use the Vokey (everything required either a pitching wedge or a 60) and I'm not going to play a shot with the wrong club just to try it out...I don't think, am I?

dont really have a preference. i have a fairly quick swing speed, i think ill go with the v1, only becasue of the satisfaction i get when i hit a trapshot at winged foot to see it jump past the hole and come right back to get up and down. Theres almost no difference to me.

Sheesh, you guys really read alot into the ball you use. Give me a premium ball and I'll play it. I go from Callaway HX Tour to 56, to ProV1 to X, and even Hogan Tour Deep. Driving and iron playability and distance are virtually the same. Like iacas mentioned, it's the short game feel that sways me to use one ball over the other. Hard greens cal for ProV1 or Callaway 56, soft greens the HX Tour or ProV1x. My Callaway rep tells me the Hogan Tour Deep is actually the HX56 with regular round dimples opposed to the hex.

That doesn't really make any sense. The Pro V1 spins more, not the other way around.

lol ya pro v1x's are the lower spinning of the two, but honestly i dont think theres any huge difference. The v1 checks up a little more i guess but off the tee i dont notice much, both seem to climb the same way to similar heights and traj.

For what it's worth I played a red white and blue tourny last weekend with a prov1x i bought off a little girl selling balls on one of the tee boxes the day before for .50. I shot an 80 the first day, and had a 39 on the front the next, used the same ball for both days. My course handicap was a 22. Perhaps I was just having a great weekend but that ball performed quite well, our greens are not that firm though. I typicaly play a nxt tour and lose about 1 per round.

well today i got a dozen of pro v1s and pro v1x. front nine i used pro v1s shot a 40 and back nine used prov1x 38. I saw a big difference in my driving with the xs they where alot smoother. But for putting i liked the v1s better.

    • I've been putting whilst looking at the hole and it's definitely helped my distance control
    • I wonder if that is why my home course basically have no stakes now.  Not even markers.  It’s completely up to golfers to remember what is OB and hazard and how things used to be marked.     Even in tournaments, there is no marking and certain areas are played differently by different golfers who either don’t know better or use it to their advantage funny reading thru this with courses that actually have markers
    • is it though?????? "Millions of fans"?????
    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
