How hot is too hot to play?

I was actually thinking of going to play in the sweltering 34 * weather today, because i figured the course's would all be deserted. All but a 7-9 pm twilight hour of golf seem crazy in this heat. I've been waiting for summer to arrive and finally in July i saw some potential for weather id like to play in. A week later i just got my new clubs and now its too damn hot. They're saying it could get up to 38 * by friday..

We had a cold and rainy spring well below seasonal here.. it was 14 * out and rainy for the month's of may and June. Now its almost mid July and its scorching hot.. rediculous.. *cough* Global warming *cough*

I played today and it was totally windy and rainy. For me, anything above 30 is too hot. Also you know its too hot to play when your sweating and you can barely swing the club.

The players were sweating profusely during the final round of the AT&T; National - I would say whatever temperature it was that day and add maybe 3 or 4 degrees Celsius and the game might be more an endurance game than enjoyable.

For the golf crazy, I'm sure their threshold for temperature will e much higher.

30 is nothing. 30 is a good day here, actually. 35 is when I start to question going out, though. Depends on the humidity - if it's really humid (like it usually is here in Kentucky), I won't go, but if it's dry heat, I'll even go when it's 40. When you're soaked through from end to end, and gave guzzled down three or four gallons of water, it's too hot. But until then, keep playing.

actually totally agree about the humidity. Dry heat is fine but humidity adds to the hot factor and the icky factor.

I've never actually felt that it was too hot to play. But you Canadians are so cute with your "oh, it's 15 degrees (59 F). Let's get the shorts out." My dad lives in Victoria, but he's still a real Texan. Expect to see him out there all summer long, basking on the empty fairways. And pray he keeps his shirt on.

It was 97*(F) today and I played (granted it was in a cart) but it was doable...

Even walking in 100* is doable as long as you stay hydrated.

Ill play in any heat. After it gets over 100 it all feels the same anyways. Plus my muscles and joints feel good in the heat.

My dad and I played (and walked) in 95*-100* weather last Sunday, wasn't too bad as we had plenty of water on us. We did sweat more than usual, but it was all good as long as we were out there playing golf.

There is the key, HYDRATION! Otherwise, I'm always the one that is complaining the absolute loudest of anyone when it's cold and snowy out. I figure since I b!tch so much in the winter that I had better keep my mouth shut when the temps rise. I do find that a nice light weight shirt and plenty of water/gatorade is key to enduring the heat.

On that topic I just picked up one of those Under Armour golf shirts, WOW that is a dang nice shirt.

34* is getting to the point where I can't put my water in the freezer the night before, because it might remain ice during the day. As long as the course will let me get away with shorts and a polo, I'll play in Palm Desert in the summer. In fact, I plan to have a few weekends in Palm Desert this summer, playing 36 holes a day Saturday and 18 on Sunday. Even with the gas to get me there, for the quality of course, it's cheaper - although far less crowded is the main reason - than the equivalent course quality in Los Angeles.

Never too hot to play golf. I've played at least as high as 103-F.

I was in Vegas once when it was either 113-F or 118-F, but didn't have my clubs with me, so I wasn't put to the test then to find out if it's really never too hot.

I don't do celsius, so I don't know hot 38-C is, but I'm confident it's not too hot for me to play golf.

Here in OKC our summers have seen 100+ degree days for over 15 days straight. I think if it broke 120...I would have to seriously consider playing after 6pm whien it cools down to a balmy 115. Otherwise, I am on the course regardless.

It gets up to 110 here, always 100+. The heat doesn't stop me, though I do go through about 8 Gatorades a round.

Can someone tell me how hot 30-40* Celsius is converted for farenheit?
