Is it just me, or do other people think that manufacturers are going way over the top with club design when it comes to paint schemes, fancy cavity plates and other lame additions all to catch our attention?? I was in my proshop the other day, and I was looking at some stuff in there and honestly, some of the things wanted to make me puke. What happened to the good old days where clubs had clean lines, shiny chrome and black in fills. Some clubs are just hideous..but thats just my opinion.

I agree, but I'm sure there are many who don't. The new TM drivers and the Covert by Nike especially. When the all white R11 came out, I actually thought it looked pretty good, but the crown graphics they have adds on newer models are too much for me. Though, I did just buy a Cleveland Classics 310 driver, and I know many people dislike the "retro" look. To each their own...

I agree, that is one of the reasons I still use my Callaway Golds. Can't get much simpler than them...plain black shaft and simple medallion in the cavity. My Rams have  simple clean lines also...with an attractive logo. I think the trend for garishness may be changing however, at least for irons. Drivers seem to be getting louder. Too many look like race cars on a stick.

In my  bag:

Driver, Callaway Diablo Edge Tour 9.5 stiff

3, 5 woods: Callaway Diablo Edge Tour 15,18 degrees Stiff

2 hybrid: Callaway Diable Edge Tour 18 degrees R (out when the 5 wood is in)

3,6 hybrids: Callaway Diablo Edge 21 S and 30 degrees R

4,5 hybrids: Callaway Razr X HL 24 and 27 degrees Stiff

7-AW irons: Callaway Razr HL graphite R shafts

SW 54 Callaway X Series Jaws CC Slate Fujikura Graphite Stiff

Putter: Odessey White Ice 1 Blade Putter.

Ball...looking for any ball that hates water, sand, long grass, and getting lost in the woods.

I can't find any, so forced to use ones that seem to love all the above.

I don't care as long as it isn't something I can see at address and the top line isn't too thick to accomodate whatever it is they put back there. If the club feels good it's good.

Your avatar says it all.  I just picked up mp-59s, but still have my mx-200s in a spare bag ready to go if my game starts to go south.

Mizuno are not immune to falling into the category I am talking about. In fact, I just hate their JPX825 line, both forged and cast. I also have MX200s, and I removed the decals from the cavity because they bugged me. The 23's and the 25's had a much better look. The 59's border on too fussy for me, but they worked for my game type, so I got those, not knowing the 64's were just around the corner. Doh!!!!

I like the white and some of the fancy colors as long as it's not too flashy, but they end up looking like crap after being used a while.....my son has an Orlimar driver on his first set of golf clubs and now the white is all scuffed and marred from use.

I like my clubs clean...my Cally's have the solid black heads and my irons have a more classic appearance. I get in trouble with my wedges (customized Vokeys) and my Cameron Futura putter that gets a few looks.

    • Congrats on the new leg of your journey - the challenge of learning something new while dealing with Parkinson’s is totally awesome.
    • Played several holes today with my Buddy's left haded clubs.  I was going to order just woods, but after playing again today and hitting the irons well, I will be ordering a complet set of Left handed Clubs.    They are Callaway Edge, Regular flex.  I am excited !  Will let you know after I try them and let you know how well they performed.    Retired Old Man, Terry
    • Depends in part on what lie the greens crew left me. If it's first cut of rough or fairway and clear shot to cup, it's an 8i chip and run. If it's shaggy, or I have to go over ridge or bunker, it's a cut shot with a 58* LW.
    • Throw a stick down in almost every range session.
    • Day 358: Played 18. Incredible psycho scorecard but finished +5. Also completed the birdie challenge. And the no 6s challenge, for that matter. Was not my best ball striking or driving round, but was able to hit enough good shots to make a few birdies and scrape it around.
