I agree that you have to pick a ball that you like around the green.  I am searching for the right ball now.  The ultimate ball to me would be one that lasts, one that spins the way I want around the greens, feels good off the putter and does NOT cost what a Pro V1 costs.  That can't be impossible.  The spin and durability may conflict but I could live with that.

I like to match between green and distance, so i tend to go for a slightly less spinning ball because i produce a good amount of clubhead speed. But i feel is all about cover material, premium covers just feel better. From there i look for a lower spin ball, so i get feel and distance to match my swing.

I found the ProV1 to be more durable than the NXT Tour.  NXT Tour would scuff more deeply.  I will keep playing the ProV1 for a few rounds as long as the scuffing does not get deep.

+1 to this. I like the V1x but I lose too many to justify buying them, even recycled. I typically favor NXTs as the best "value ball", and that judgement is based almost solely on short-game feel.

I begin to get confused now. Yesterday I read that mchepp hits it farther with the R1, now you loose 30 yards hitting the R11.

Why all the variance? Applying Eriks first post I would expect that you all hit them about the same distance.

The original R11 had the least spin because it was a smaller head, the R11s was 460cc and the R1 is generally considered a higher spin head. Aside from forgiveness, different heads vary based on their launch conditions. So that doesn't make one better than another, just a different fit.

Exactly the R1 probably just fits Mchepp better than his previous driver.
