GoPro and recording swings

I recently picked up a GoPro ( white edition ) and was wondering if anyone has used one to record their swings? It can do 720p @ 60fps which should be plenty and allow me to slow it down a bit.

I bought it for snowboarding, but figure it could be used for my golf swings too

Any advice from other GoPro users on recording golf swings?

One issue with the GoPro is it's field of view- it is an extreme wide angle- maybe too wide to get a decent capture. It's great for action and surfing type shots, but otherwise it isn't quite the right equipment as far as I can tell.

60 FPS is "okay" but does the White do 120?

We talked about the GoPros in another thread. Consensus: the wide angle lens makes it somewhat awkward.

Unfortunately only the black edition does 120fps.

I figured the wide angle might make it look strange.

How did this work out for you?

I am looking at the HERO3+ Silver Edition. 720P at 120fps.

Don't do it, bad field of view for the swing, no viewfinder...not worth it

I just saw this in a golf magazine ad so I have no idea how good it is, but the specs say 240fps at 480p and 60fps at 1080p.  http://swingshot.com/store/cyclops-pro-tm.html

I've used a go pro for a lot of swing practice.  the 60fps is really great, and you can flatten the image out with imovie or premiere, and really get some good shots with great data.

I've updated my GoPro Black with the latest FW that can do 720p at 250 fps.  It already can do 1080p at 125 fps.   I can see my swing in slow mo but pictures are too blurry when I freeze a frame.   I wanted to see my wrist at impact but can't.   If anyone figured it out, please post.   Thanks.

      I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

      Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
