Fairway Woods

I was in the market for a new 3 and 5 wood. The ones I have are embarrassingly old and I really haven't hit them well for a while. I tried the Rocketballz last year and just could not find one with the right shaft for my club speed, and I either hit ground balls or balloons. I tried a number of other fairway woods and felt that, like the Rocketballz, the face was too deep. Soemtimes it felt like I was trying to hit a driver off the deck.

The other day I demoed the Adams Super S Speedline and I hope I found the club for me. I was even able to hit it solid out of the rough. When I was talking to the Pro about it, he added that they had a "Masters Week" sale and all their TaylorMade and Adams woods were $50.00 off.

Sold. Two new fairway woods for $149.00 each.

its not the club, its your swing. you might want to look into getting a hybrid if you cant hit fairway woods. 1,2, or 3 hybrid will do the trick. they are easy to hit like an iron, but has fairway woods distance.  what good is a fairway wood that has a lot of distance, but you can't hit it? It would be no good to you, try a hybrid.

I understand your point but I need the distance that the fairway woods provide. The hybrids have never done that for me. I have always been able to hit fairway woods fairly well because I have NEVER been long and have had to learn to use them. There are at least 8 holes on my course where I will use them (as long as I am in play, of course).

My point about feeling like I was hitting a driver off the deck was wth the new clubs I was trying, like the Rocketballz Stage 2. The Adams fairway woods actually perform, for me, a little like a hybrid, with the shallower face. I played nine holes yesterday afternoon and hit them very well in different conditions, from a tight lie to light rough. We'll see how it goes going forward. Anyway, I own 'em now.

Update:

I have played 45 holes so far with the Adams Super S Speedline 5 wood and 3 wood in my bag and it is a revelation. The clubs look and feel just right standing over the ball and they react pretty much like hybrids, in that they get right up in the air easily, but give me the added distance that I need for my game.

I have even taken to hitting the 3-wood off the tee on two of the shorter par 4's on my course that require very precise driving. Back a little bit, but I am in play. I know it's all in my head (I am never comfortable with my driver on those tees) but that's such a big part of the game!

I've been debating between that and the Cobra Amp Cell.  At the local demo days I hit the Adams better but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I played the old tight lies 3w many years ago for quite a stretch. A revelation is what I would call it too. Straight, long, and effortless. Whenever I read talk about the new Adams equipment it always piques my interest and I will give them all due consideration when shopping for new woods. Enjoy your new clubs.

I just got the new cobra amp cell 5-7 wood (adjustable loft) and its the best club in my bag... My old rocketballz 5 wood was unhittable for me
