Oh, my...

50, 55, 60 are newly arrived

Trapper Grind (18 of bounce in the 60, 14 in the 55)

Notice that the Leading Edges Hug the Ground

Notice the Satin Chrome Back and the Workmanlike Industrial Faces

The Scoring Lines are moved out because the Sweetspot is where it belongs - in the center.

Opted for fairly plan stampings - black paintfill w/ numbers and a red "E"

("EAR" is not my initials - but it was fun to brush out letters)

Shaft is KBS Hi Rev with Edel Wedge Grip

The balance and weight remind me of the Miura Wedges - they've got some heft.

Those look fantastic!  Have you had a chance to hit them yet?  Or did you lliterally just pull them out of the box 14 minutes ago?  If so, that was very considerate of you to think of us first;))

What exactly is "trapper" grind?  It seems like yours have a little less bounce than Erik's, so do yours fall in the middle somewhere, or are these what Edel would consider their "low" bounce wedges? ;)

Pulled them out of the blue box yesterday late afternoon, and it rained today. I could run out and hit some balls, but will wait 'till the morning. But I did take the pics right out of the box.

Trapper Grind is one notch below Erik's Driver Grind in terms of amount of bounce. I tried 3 grinds in testing, including Driver, and the Trapper Grind was smoother through the turf for me. And it is still high bounce - Trapper is #6 of 8 grinds in ascending order of bounce.

During testing, I was hitting high flops with the 50 ... it was ridiculous, and fun.

I've worked so much on my swing with video and drills since the SoCal Outing that I almost feel worthy.

All it takes is time and money ... and good judgment.

I purchased my Edel putter 4 years ago ... don't you wait that long to get the wedges.

Close up of the 60 face

Industrial, no glare look

Yes, it's not the usual

From the Edel Website:

Edel wedges are designed to create more consistent shot making by incorporating industry first enhancements to the club face. We have moved and expanded the center of percussion (sweet spot) of our wedges toward the toe in comparison to most traditional clubs, and away from the hosel. Additionally, we have extended the groove pattern on the face of the club to better frame the golf ball.

Shorter Hosel

Our wedges have a shorter hosel to remove unwanted weight from the heel, allowing the center of gravity to move closer to the true center of the clubface.

Rounded Leading Edge

A slightly rounded leading edge allows for the club to sit close to the ground while maintaining the proper bounce. This feature also allows the golfer to play a variety of shots (open, closed, toe down, toe up) from different lies while maintaining a leading edge that is square to the target.

Aggressive Heel Relief

Narrower hosel and heel relief allows the club to cut through long grass and all types of sand without twisting.

Very nice! Enjoy! I love my 53 and 58 Trappers and will probably add a 48 at some stage. Can't see myself ever needing another (make of) wedge. These are the dog's bollocks.

Did you work in sand too during the fitting?

Those wedges are sexy...congrats on the sticks. Very, very nice. I've been waffling on going to do an Edel fitting myself, but it seems like the closest fitter to me is 2 hours away, unless I am missing something with the dealer locator.

Nice looking wedges, I heard they just started offering some left handed options might have to check them out.  Enjoy!

I will try not to wait that long.

Just a quick question... How do they determine which model to start the fitting?

He had me swing my current wedges on a LM, in this case- Trackman, and then I swung 50 yard , 30 yards, 10 yard pitches, w my current wedge, and then we went back in and he selected 3 grinds- we hit them on Trackman and then hit them on turf to get the interaction. We missed on purpose to check the glide of the bounce, got the feel and how each came through without getting held up in the turf, narrowed it to driver and trapper - and Trapper was smoother through the turn for me.

I meant, smoother through the turf for me. We then went back in and swung on the track man to confirm everything. Then I went outside some more to confirm the findings and get comfortable with the grind. Then we tested shafts. He asked if I wanted hi launch hi spin, etc. We try a couple of shafts on the track man to see the results and decided the KBS Hi Rev were a good fit for me. We also hit on the lie board to check the lie and then we talked about grips and wraps and made more choices

    • Absolutely.  I think you'd enjoy the tournament and I know I'd be okay vouching for you character.
    • I would take an oatmeal cookie if one was presented, but it is not the one I would go for. Sorry @ChetlovesMer My short list Peanut Butter Cookies Snickerdoodles Molasses Cookies White chocolate macadamia nut cookies (probably the only thing good left at Subway)
    • I would if I wasn't going to be in Pinehurst during that time. That sounds fun. Keep me posted in the future if the dates do not align with my yearly golf trip. This sounds like a fun time. Thanks for the offer!
    • Not necessarily. You can hit up on the ball, and if you take a 10-degree driver and close it down to 5 degrees and swing out like 10 degrees. You can hit some nasty snap hooks. (been there and done that 😉).  Might not help with the duck hook. Swinging up more can cause a person to swing out, which will cause it to hook more. Swinging down and left (a fade or slice path) feel might be better. I had a nasty hook for a while, to play functional golf, I had to feel like I was swinging like 20 degrees outside to in through impact. I would hit it straight. The swing felt like I was hitting down, but the ball went normal trajectory.  Feel isn't real. I wouldn't suggest mechanisms that cause the ball to draw more to someone who is duck hooking the ball.  Again, to the OP, create a My Swing thread, and lets some of us get some eyes on the swing for more concrete suggestions.
    • @HitemHard, The first thing that I am going to say is, "feel is not real". This has been proven true with video, and now systems like GEARS which can accurately measure and track the golf swing. A lot of what you said will likely not translate to the original poster unless they are fluent in biomechanics. This is the struggle with those who are technically knowledgeable trying to explain to people who have no knowledge of the subject. Talking in terms of external rotation, and supination, is all and good, but it does nothing to give a proper visual or is even relevant to someone who actually wants to fix their swing. I have been through many lessons with a great instructor, and watched good YouTube sources, and believe me they DUMB DOWN the technical aspects of the golf swing because I and the rest of us do not need it.  That being said,  I would disagree with this. It probably is dependent on the golfer. example, I am very right side dominant. So, I feel things much more in terms of right wrist angles. This means that I control the clubface by feeling the general position of my hands and my right hand. So, my existence disproves this statement as the only way to control the golf club.  Yea, I am going to disagree here.  First again, feel is not real. For some, the feel of the left hand pointed to the sky will produce a club position way out of position. For me, I had to feel like the back of my left hand faced away from my body. On video, this got the club in a good position. Again, feel is not real.  I do not believe the body pulls the club through impact. PGA tour players get their hands down FAST from the top of the downswing. The hands need to accelerate to a high rate of speed before they start to slow down before the hands get through impact. This happens in a very short window. The hands are not passive.  That all being said that entire post was pretty non-sensical to me. I think most people would struggle to understand it.  To answer the OP's question.  A slice and a pull are the same swing but with clubface control differences. If you square the face to the path, then you pull it. If you do not, then you slice it.  The issue is a pathing issue. That can be caused by many things. As was posted above, having the OP start a My Swing thread, posting their swing would be more beneficial.
