Dear Oregon,

What the hell?????

HAHA I love it. I knew something was going to happen when their main running back was quoted saying something about not wanting to go back to Rose Bowl, that they already been there done that. You can kinda sense that once they lost to Stanford that they lost their goal. Now they are just playing poorly in big games because they have less meaning.

Yeah I saw that. Did he say that before or after they lost to Stanford though? If he said it before, then I chalk it up as confidence or healthy arrogance. If after, then I think he's just being immature. Either way ... Today wasn't one of those fluky or lucky upsets ... They got dominated. Really looking forward to ucla/asu and Baylor/osu right now!

I think he said it afterwards, when Stanford lost to USC.

Yep, may Baylor crash and burn!!!!

You seem to be getting your wish!   Baylor is losing by 25 with just over a quarter to play....

And our Bruins lost :( ... there goes the Rose Bowl dream.

Well I guess DeAnthony Thomas is going to get his wish.  The Rose Bowl was no big deal, now he can experience the Alamo, Holiday or Sun Bowl.  He hasn't done that yet.

Oh how I love college football. Now all I need is Auburn to pull the upset next week.

I hope you don't get your wish but we are due for it to happen. Wouldn't be the first time. P.S. Not that much of an upset either. Except for last year when Auburn quit on the season records don't mean much in that game.

Or Missouri in two weeks too right? FSU would have to collapse most epically to lose in their conference though.

Bama had a nice little breather this week but they've got a helluva two weeks ahead. @ Auburn followed by Mizz in ATL. Go look at Mizzy's schedule this year. Not going to be easy.

If Bama and tOSU played 10 times this year, I think Bama would win at least 7 of those times. tOSU just doesn't match up well against Bama.

For the record, I only think tOSU makes it to the NC this year because the Big 10 (12) is a cakewalk.

Really how is that? OSU has everything that has bothered Alabama over the past few years. Up tempo offense. Spread offense. Mobile QB. Throw in the fact that OSU has one of the most elite senior latent offensive lines in the nation, which boast a running back who is 22nd in total rushing yards, 7th in rushing yards per game, 12th in yards per carry, and 16th in TD's scored. Guess what, HE MISSED 3 GAMES. OSU isn't your typical spread offense. They power run the football. Want to know how many times Carlos Hyde has been stopped for a loss in the past year, twice. Think about how good this O-line is when the first time he was tackled for a loss was two weeks ago. Guess what, Urban has brought an SEC style defensive line to OSU. They are big, fast, active, disruptive. When it isn't Noah Spence, its Bennet, or the freshman monster Bosa. OSU is 2nd in sacks, 26th in tackles for loss, and 6th in rushing defense.

We wont talk that if OSU wins out they would face a tougher schedule than FSU, right? If FSU wins out they will end up with a 73-71 opposition record. If OSU wins out, they will have a 75-71 opposition record. That is making the assumption the better team wins in their record. Even if things switch around, its to late in the season to drastically change this, you are looking at only a few games difference in SOS. 2-3 games in the win/loss for SOS over 145 games played is 1-2% error. Everyone is harping on how terrible OSU schedule is, yet the number 2 team in the nation is just right their with OSU. Is this strength of schedule thing a big problem, or is people blind to that the big ten is getting and unwanted bashing.

If you look some of the saber metrics for college football. If you average the conferences, the only two elite conferences are the Pac-12 and the SEC. They have the most teams in the top 25 that have complete teams (offense, defense, special teams). Beauty of saber metrics, it takes into consideration the opponent when calculating the efficiency. Guess where the Big Ten is, in between the Big 12 and the ACC. The worst big conference is the Big 12. Why not harp on them a little, yet we celebrate Baylor's success, then they just get trashed.

You know what, it doesn't matter if Alabama wins those 7 out of 10, because winning a football game only takes 1 game. This isn't MLB, stop getting your sports mixed up man. Those arguements, "Well if you spread it out over a 10 game series". That is just BS talk because deep down you know OSU can hang with Alabama in a football game. You just need a reason to convince yourself otherwise.

Stop drinking the media cool aid and actually delve deep into the sport of college football.

Mizzou still has to get by TAMU and that's not guaranteed either...But I think Mizzou will win the game.

You are right. Any team in the top 5 could beat Alabama on any given day. I'm not so sure I can say that about FSU (they look pretty good) but I thought the same thing in 1992 when I really didn't give Alabama any chance at all against Miami, and it wasn't even close.

This year's Alabama team is NOT last year's team (by a long shot). I never predict a win but last year I was as certain as I ever am that we could beat any team. This year is a far cry from that. A couple of players that were supposed to be stars are not as hungry and it shows.

Fortunately a couple of other players have stepped it up a little.

P.S. If we had enough sense to put 2 backs in the backfield and give the defense some harder reads I would like our chances a lot better, but that's not going to happen. We did it once (against Michigan) and I got excited about it and thought we had finally figured it out but after that game it was back to the same old single back set. Basically telling the defense "Here's who is getting the ball. See if you can stop him."

Without the line we had last year it's a lot harder to do...But we'll see.

Wow, I made that comment 5 months ago, two months before the college football season even started. I never said anything about Baylor or FSU, so I don't really have anything to say there. I'm glad you have a bunch of stats memorized, but college football games aren't played on stat sheets. And as far as my actual comment, I simply said that I thought Alabama would win the majority of the games played between the two teams because, as you pointed out, nearly any team can beat any other team on any given day. That's why I spoke in percentages instead of a definite "Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played."

Your entire post is typical Ohio State whining. You dug up a 5 month old post to spew a bunch of stats and suggest I don't understand college football. Frankly, I expect more from a forum leader.

That is weird because I could have sworn I quoted that from this page. :scared:

If I didn't then I apologize for that one. I don't go dig posts just to rant.
