That was one of the few things I didn't like about Talega.  You really had to get there early to warm up because of the logistics of the range, shuttle and first tee.

Yeah, it's really annoying.  Talega is the worst course around here (as far as those that have driving ranges - I'm looking at you Monarch!) for warming up before the round.  But, as you'll see, OQ (at least of courses I've played) is the very best.  To make it even better, the first tee is over a little hill just enough that there is no crowd watching you ... if you're the kind who gets first tee jitters. :)

The other side of the coin for Talega is that it means the range is almost always empty when I go there to practice at lunch, since very few people who are playing bother with the hassle of warming up first.

The one off the 60 seems closer:

Denny's, 6875 Valley Way, Rubidoux, CA 92509

Yes, this is the one I was thinking of too.  For those of us coming from OC, and even south LA, that is the route we'd take to the course anyway.

Google Maps is telling me it'll take 45 minutes to get there from my house.  It's usually a little less, but I will be sure to be out the door at 5:45 so I can be sure to be there by 6:30.

With Golf Swine being in, that puts us at 16 players. I'll take care of making groupings here shortly and get them posted up soon.

Unless anybody has an objection or a better idea, I suggest we keep on with the modified stableford game we've been playing.

For those who don't remember, it works like this:

Everybody gets 80% of their course handicap and the best 3 of 4 scores on every hole count. Scoring works like this:

Net Bogey - 1 point

Net Par - 2 points

Net Birdie - 3 points

Net Eagle - 5 points

Net Double Eagle - 7 points

The forecast for Sunday in Riverside is for a high of 85* after an overnight low of 51*.  Presumably this means that we'll be teeing off when it's in the low to mid 60's??  Finishing up and it's in the high 70's??

That's almost long pants weather.  Hmmm ...

Kaili wants a revision from 15 to 20, but his coach wants him to hit from the blues (this is so he can skip the league class Sunday afternoon). He's been busy with schoolwork.

@Lihu Ok, I'll switch him to Blues. Does he actually keep an index where he posts his rounds or is it just a guess? Also, what is your current index?

Kaili's "20" is a guess, he was about a 15 (league) over the summer, but has not played much for the last 2 months.
Okay, I'll fuss up. My handicap is closer to 20, but I would not object to the current one you gave me :-)

@Lihu I figured you'd improved since the last time. Since he hasn't played much, I'll put Kaili at a 20 even though he had been a 15. However, I'm also going to put you at a 20. The two of you should be able to compete straight up.

    • @DrizZzY does. 😄
    • does anybody still use a 7 wood? if not what do you use instead>
    • Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.
    • So, Newey is out at Red Bull. Where does he go in a year? Is Max still with RBR in 2026? Hmmmm.
    • August 2010 Woodfin Ridge 18th hole Playing in a large tournament with a slew of friends and the last day was two man best ball. The 18th, when it was bent grass, was very fast due to a steep slope on the right side. I had seen many people over the years putt off the green from above the hole. I hit a great drive and 3W to 30’ left of the hole. With everyone watching my partner hit it way too fast and never high enough and his ball rolled all the way to the bottom of the green.  I hit mine much higher and the ball came to rest about 20” above the hole. Then it slowly started trickling towards the hole for a walkoff eagle! Nobody said anything except my partner who was yelling pretty loudly. I looked at the crowd and told them it was okay to clap because it was a great putt, and they gave me a bunch of polite golf claps and brought me a beer!
