Nothing against Keegan, Bubba and Webb Simpson (who are all great players and will prolly add another major in their career) but the last 5 major champions are Els, McIlroy, Scott, Rose and Mickelson. Not only that, the leaderboards on the major championships over the last 5 major championships have been some of the best leaderboards ever put together.

Outside of the PGA where McIlroy romped to victory, the other 4 majors have been gut-wrenching down the stretch and just incredibly exciting. I never remember a time in golf where I've been more into major championships and where the cream of the crop was consistently coming to the top. I hope the trend continues next month at Oak Hill.

I love when Phil is in the hunt for a major; this and the 2010 Masters were two of my favorite major tournaments to watch. Definitely was not expecting him to put up a 66, let alone by birdying four of the last six holes.

Scott and Rose might go away for all you know and never win again. Bubba and Keegan and Webb could combine for 15 more majors in the next 20 years for all you know.

I don't see how his caddie is the driving force... I do agree Scott's got a few more majors in him but don't think Stevie Williams is a factor..

Williams was on the bag for 13 of Tiger's and 1 of Scott's. 14 total.

No. Stevie was hired part-time in 1982 for Norman, but did not become the full-time caddie until 1988. He was fired by Norman in 1989, at which point, Raymond Floyd hired him.

Pete Bender was on Norman's bag for the 1986 Open Championship. Tony Navarro was Norman's caddie for the 1993 Open victory.

The last time I checked, Navarro is now with Bud Cauley, and Pete Bender is semi-retired, really only coming out to caddy for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am every now and then, as well as some other random events for his old pro friends.

Tiger and Stevie are "tied" at 14, since Fluff Cowan was the bagman for the 1997 Masters, aka Tiger's cherry.

Extra emphasis on the air quotes around "tied."

Jeez. Never knew Stevie was responsible for all those majors................. must be the one driving, pitching and putting. Sure he's probably a good caddie, but can you seriously say he's played a major factor?

Anything's possible, but Scott and Rose are top-5 world players right now, and we're in the present. The last 5 majors have been great....remember 2003-2005 when we were getting Rich Beems and Todd Hamiltons and Ben Curtis' and Michael Campbell's? We're far from that right now. The leaderboards the last 5 majors have been nothing but stacked with world class talent.

haha especially at Oak HIll where the last champion was Shaun Micheel. Eventually the trend will be broken, but I'm enjoying these great majors while I can. Hopefully they continue.

      I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.

      Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

      Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
