Like the name suggests you are using a Pink Ball and it can be played with as few as 4 guys, but it's best when you have multiple foursomes. Each foursome gets 1 sleeve of Pink Balls

We play that in one of the events we do each year, however we only give each foursome 1 pink ball, if a high HC player is up with the pink ball have them use their putter if they must, a 10 is better than a lost ball!

Games we really like to play are low ball/low total. I don't know if anyone brought this up earlier but basically 2 man teams, 1 point for the low ball and another point for low total. Another game we play is Vegas, which has been talked so I won't go into details. Another really fun deal to put out there is the snake. The snake goes to the last guy to 3 putt, you put a $ value on the snake prior and the guy with the snake at the end of the round pays that to each player that amount. You keep the snake until somone else 3 putts, 2 guys 3 putt the same green they both have the snake. Keep the talk going, this is always a fun thread.

Vegas- Another way of choosing teams (the way I play it) is everyone tees off. From the tee box, you take the 2 shots that are left and they are partners against the 2 guys that are right from the p.o.v. of the tee box.

Im wondering why no one has come up with "Wolf". (Bare with me)

On the first tee, everyone tees off. When you get to the fairway, the longest driver is #1 and the shortest #5 and so on in between. The long and short are teammates against the other 3 for the first hole. You play for $6 / $4. (Two man team plays for $6, and the three man team plays for $4 each) Ok, hole #2. The number 2 man tees off first and he is the "Wolf". He gets to choose his partner. Number 3 hits, then number 4, number 5, then number 1. The wolf has to choose his partner after he hits. Once the next person has hit(player 4), he can not go back and choose player 3. The next hole player 3 is the wolf and the order is 3,4,5,1,2 and so on until hole 16. On hole 16, whoever is down the most is the automatic wolf. He can play for as much as he is down, no more. (If he is down $65, he can play for $60 / $40.) The wolf continues on to 17 and 18 with the wolf being whoever is down the most. It can be get pretty expensive.
Also, a "wolf" may go by himself for 2 to 1 odds. A player may REJECT a Wolf for 4 to 1 odds on the hole. Carry overs included.

I have seen snake mentioned a few times. We used to golf with a guy on Sundays who also played a regular round with guys on Saturday. They had a game of snake that paid out weekly, but also had a carry over. At the end of the round, they guy who had the snake actually had to take the "snake" with him and keep it in his bag until the next round. The thing is, this snake was actually a 12", shall we say, replica of a certain male body part.

I've heard of it played with foursomes, but never five. I don't advise trying to play any game with fivesomes...

Wolf is one of those games that just seem too complicated for me to enjoy. Vegas can be too, but at least it's the same every time: two on two, with the same partner. In threesomes, I like to play a little 6-6-6 tournament, but oftentimes the result is sadly decided after the 12th hole because two people are paired up for the last six holes and are kind of "locked in" to whatever their scores are relative to their partner. Maybe it works better with a foursome.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I mentioned wolf on the opening post but it's s confusing I decided against explaining it.

I also prefer "set" team games. All the changing partner stuff gets old. We also like to play $5 a hole, which is basically $5 skins without carry-overs.

I think "set team" games are boring. Sure, I have those bets as well, but I like knowing that where you hit it off the tee (las vegas) or who you pick determines your teammate for the hole. It changes and you might get lucky or get screwed.

Another note on "Las Vegas". The way we score teams that make birdies, is that you flip the other teams score. So if on a par 4, team one makes a 3-4 and team two makes a 4-5... teams two's score would be flipped to 5-4. Even worse would be 4-6 for a 64.

"Animals"

Only pays out at the end of the round

Snake: 3-putt
Squirrel: shot into a tree
Camel: shot into the sand
Gorilla: shot goes OB
Fish: shot into the water

You get an animal if you do the selected action, say you 3-putt on hole 15, you have the snake. But animals only belong to the person who most recently did it. So you don't have to pay the other people in your group, if say somebody 3 putts on 18, because then they are the last person to have it.

You can come up with any monetary value to pay out at the end of a round to each other person.

We have also been debating what animal to make if somebody hits a house.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
