I have always used the interlocking grip. I have always had a good iron game. Hitting a driver or 3 wood off the tee would be hit or miss. my miss is a snap hook. The past 3 or 4 rounds I have been using a overlap grip for my tee shots. The result have been a little fade with the driver and I can hit a fade or draw with the 3 wood. i am going to continue with this and see where it goes. Anybody else do this?

Every once in awhile I try an overlap grip on the driving range.  It feels so strange to me, as if I have a death grip on the club with my left hand, and my right hand is just hanging on for dear life.  And the results are not pretty ... so, no I haven't tried it on the course yet. :)

I only used the interlocking grip from day one until a few months ago and now it feels strange to me. I didn't really have any trouble making the transition and it made it easier for me to strengthen my grip. However I recently went to a reverse overlap putting grip and my brain had a tough time with that.

Heard them comment during the President's cup that Stricker uses a standard Vardon (overlap) grip when putting.  I think I've also heard he squeezes it hard enough to turn his knuckles white.  Given his success, I guess that means I don't need to change anything (cuz I putt the same way albeit rather badly).

well I played another round with the overlap with my driver and 3 wood and interlock on every other shots. Played the back nine twice its a par 37 shot 38 & 39. Things I have noticed is with the driver I have completely eliminated the left side which I like. I can also hit a cut or a draw with my 3 wood off the tee and the 3 wood off the deck is much better also.

just to piggy back off of my previos post. whats the advantage to 10 finger when chipping? I am just curious

    • Just add new stats of speed of play to the tour. Average time to hit a shot Number of shots per round the player took more than 40 seconds to play a shot Number of times under the clock Numbers of warnings per round for slow play Number of penalty strokes per round for slow play  Number of times the player took a WC break. Time spend on the WC  Number of times the player don't know basic rules and have to call for a rules official  Walking average speed Time spend reading yardage books Time spend arguing with the caddie about hitting an impossible shot.  Average time looking for a ball beyond 3 minutes.  Average time looking for balls on the hazards despite been in the middle of the fairway An a lot more that can give the committee enough information to award penalties after a round, tournament or even a season. Imagine a ruling were a player is awarded to play all April with 1 shot penalty each round because of slow play in March, should be a shit show I would love to see.
    • I agree. I like the Mission Impossible movies. None of them are life changing or movies that I would put in any kind of a top ten list. But they are pretty much always keep me entertained.
    • Might be good. Part 1 was only okay.
