How do slightly thin and fat shots effect ball flight laws?

I know toe and heel hits add draw/fade respectively. What if you make center contact but slightly thin or fat? How does that type of off the sweetspot contact affect the ball flight laws? I'm asking in terms of making self corrections based on ball flight and clubface contact.

Vertical gear effect tends to "straighten" the spin axis on thin shots.

You could say the same for fat shots (increasing the spin axis tilt) except those have too many other factors to consider to make a sweeping statement: clubhead speed, AoA, path, face angle, etc. can all be affected differently by different kinds of fat shots.

But thin shots tend to go straighter, that is pretty much a lock.

If you are talking about clubheads where gear effect comes into play--such as woods and hybrids, and some SGI irons--impact high on the face reduces backspin and raises launch angle and low on the face increases backspin and reduces launch angle.
