Do you were the same clothes practicing or have you not changed for a week?

Not changed nor showered 😜

I have like four or five sets of the same clothes for work.

A little cold today, but beats the rain we've had the last two days. Been thinking that I might be overdoing the sit move (results in saggy lead knee at A7) so I focused today on just the transition layoff move.

Feels simpler. Also feels slower. Whether or not that is true, I don't know. Struck the ball pretty well, though.

Full swing practice today. I didn’t like the swings from last week where I didn’t do any of the sit stuff. I also don’t like some of the swings from earlier in March - I feel like I’m sliding too much or too long. So I changed the left side sit feel of bending the lead knee at transition to simply sitting or a slight squat with both legs.

I really like the lower body action in these swings so I’m hoping this is the right direction with that. I’m striking the ball really well with this move.

Had nothing better to do, so I went back over the last year's worth of posts here. I made some significant changes to my swing in the past year. I'm always amazed when I go back over old swings and see things I used to do that I have no idea how to do now. That's how I know I've made a real change.

I practiced a little today using the same feel as the last post until I got tired of being cold and the wind knocking over my net. I'm really liking how well I'm striking the ball; it feels like the ball just jumps off the face, and I was using my MP4 so I know I'm hitting it off the sweetspot. I'm using the ground better and I can feel the extra power I'm getting from that.

Found my rubber tees I bought years ago and never opened, now I can hit my driver at home:

Definitely using the ground here. It looks like I'm almost completely off the ground around A9 or so. Too much shaft lean at A7 I think is part of why I launch the ball a little low.

This is the other part:

IMG-0256.jpg

Definitely too low on the face.

I'm happy with how the driver swing is compared to the last time I filmed it and I'm definitely striking the ball better, but I still have lots of work to do.

Swing looks great. You have the ball teed up high too, so the low face contacts seems odd.

Thanks. I’m wondering if it’s the mat I use making me subconsciously swing with the arc higher. I have hit it in the past with the driver and it doesn’t feel or sound great...

I wasn’t hitting it low on the face when I was fitted for this driver.

Could be. I have a small Callaway mat and I’m always worried I’ll miss the mat.

Added a little palmar flexion at transition, so it's flexion and laying off the shaft simultaneously at A4 with sit/squat move. I want to keep everything more dynamic so I'm still rehearsing my transition moves as the end of my backswing instead of pausing at the top.

I don't know if I like this. I hit it center but it came out straight and slightly low, which means I hooked the shit out of it.

Why?

Also, when you "sit," make sure it's "forward" a little bit. Sit a bit more into the left leg.

The palmar flexion? I thought it would help with clubface control. It made sense in my head at the time.

Will do.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever missed the net?  Your swing is much better than mine so I'd be scared to death with that net.  Mine is about 3x the size and probably closer than you stand to it.

No. I’d have to hit the ball at an impossible angle to miss it.

Well done.  Apparently, I'm able to hit the ball at impossible angles.

I’m having a hard time picturing that, TBH. I shank the ball and it still hits the net. There’s like a 60° window to hit into.

I think for many it's important that the left-center of the net is set up with the target line. That way you can pull it a little or shank it a lot and it's still into the net.

I think too many people put the middle of the net between themselves and the target line, so they're really just hitting into the right third of the net already. You want to be hitting into about 1/3 from the left side.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
