I am making this thread so everyone can post the tip that changed their game. I think every good player has one tip that decides if their swing is good or bad. Unfortunately I am not one of those good players, so for your sake I will not post a tip. Happy posting!

Hm, maybe the set-up tip, that I learnt from a pure point movie. It goes like this:
For a ideal set-up, no matter what club you are choosing (except the putter), first grip up your club like you usually do. Raise the club, so the angle between your club/hands and the body is 90 degrees. Now, "lock" your elbows, so the angle between your upper arms and lower arms stays unvariable, while the rest of your body and the club go down and set behind the ball. If your club will adress uneven with the ball, just move your feet either forward or backwards.

You`ll feel a bit "locked" in the spine and maybe even in your arms, but this is perhaps the best tip I`ve ever tested.

I have made one hole in one this far. While you are reading this, I am most likely out on the tee trying to sink another one

I've recently started pendulum swinging before every shot. So setup and make a practise swing and go straight back into another swing (so it's a continuous swing down the target line, swing back to a 3/4 turn with wrist cock and swing again). It's pretty quick to do, just as quick as making two full practise swing but it helps to get that feeling of wrist cock, weight shift, late release, outside-in swing plane etc.. etc.. quickly. Maybe on the first swing working on wrist cock on the backswing, wait till you get that feeling, then move onto swingplane on the downswing, wait till that's a nice inside-out, then start gooving a late release and roll over. It might take 10 quick swings to start out but after a few hits you only need 4-5. Takes less than 10 seconds to do. Then go ahead and hit that shot.

You should do this on the practise range and take it to the course. I find it really helps get the feeling. It also helps taking the range game to the course. At the range it takes a few shots to get into it but then you hit a groove. On the course you hit a ball, walk for a few minutes then hit another ball, and after you hit your ball you realised something was not quite right but then it's too late

I also to this for putting. Instead of taking two practise putts. I pendulum swing a few times to get the feel of how much backswing is required to make the putt + 17".

There are so many which have been helpful to me along the way but in general I think the best one by far is, "The ball is merely a landmark on the way to the finish." That keeps my mind focused on the end and not the "during".

Equipment, Setup, Finish, Balance, and Relax. All equal in importance and all dependent on each other. They are the cornerstones of a good golf swing.

1. "POST UP ON FIRM LEFT LEG." a.k.a "CLEAR THE HIPS"<----------BEST ONE BY FAR!!!

2. "KEEP RIGHT KNEE FLEXED AND ROTATE AROUND IT ON BACKSWING", A.K.A. "KEEP WEIGHT INSIDE LEGS THROUGHOUT SWING" <-------SECOND BEST ONE

3. "SHOULDERS SQUARE TO TARGET THRU IMPACT", A.K.A. "KEEP SPINE ANGLE"

4. "RIGHT ELBOW TUCKED", A.K.A. "DELIVER FROM THE INSIDE".

5. TILT-THE-"T". (Setup procedure to establish proper spine angle)

6. "FEET ANCHORED INTO GROUND AS LONG AS POSSIBLE", A.K.A. "DRIVE RIGHT FOOT INTO GROUND".

7. "KEEP HEAD BEHIND BALL BUT SHIFT WEIGHT TO INSIDE LEFT LEG".

If I keep these in mind throughout the round, and correctly apply them, things usually go very smooth. I try to consitently apply them at the range with specific targets until MOST of them become second nature, and I only need to think of a couple before swinging.

This 4th tip from the previous post is my 1st tip and was what turned my game around. I applied this a few months back as I had noticed Trevor Immelman's right elbow attached to his right side during the entire swing. He's got a great swing!

It has lead to straighter more consistent shots and has helped me shoot mid to high 70's for 5 consecutive rounds when normally I'd break the 80's barrier once every 5 rounds or so.

2 years ago my father, sister and I went to the golf complex at St. Augustine, Florida (golf hall of fame, 4 courses, resort stuff) as a Christmas present. We had a 3-day lesson from a Senior PGA tour candidate. They had video analysis and all sorts of gadgets. My favorite tip was:

--At address, tilt your upper body to the right so you're "looking at the ball from behind."

Now that I actively think about it every time I address the ball, my hips rotate more freely, I hit down on the ball more, and I finish with all of my weight thrown forward on to my front foot, resulting in a cleaner shot.

I was watching "Playing Lessons From the Pro's" on the Golf Channel the other day, an episode where Geoff Ogilvy was the featured guest. He said one of the best pieces of advice he ever got was this putting tip from Brad Faxon: "Putt like it doesn't matter." He said that many people stress over putts to the point where they can't make a good stroke because of tension. Convincing yourself that "it doesn't matter" will actually allow you to make a lot more putts because your mechanics will be better (assuming you're lined up correctly, of course).

Sounds good to me

I agree. I fight pulls and pull hooks, and the problem is usually my right elbow. Unfortunately it usually takes several really bad left drives or someone pointing it out to me for me to realize I'm doing it again.

I think a good power tip is to kick your back knee in and flare your front foot out a little bit
