@David in FL you have me halfway convinced, might pick up an el cheapo to try out next season. My chipping is pretty decent, although I mostly pitch now, but considering that you can usually find a chipper for $20 I may give it a go and see if it finds a place in my bag.

Don't go too "cheap"......it's going to get a lot of use.  There are some good ones out there.......and even the good ones can be had inexpensively if you look.  Check out the Odyssey.   And PLEASE take the time to practice with it.  Too many people who do try one just throw it in the bag and give it a half-assed test.  It's a specialty club, and a damned useful one, but it's not magic and you still need to learn how to get the most out of it.

@David in FL , is there any drill or somthing that I can do to learn the proper grip pressure? I try not to "choke" the club but it always seems like I grip too tight and I can't seem to find that right grip pressure.

Not even "lobbing", you're talking about "pitching" vs "chipping".......no worries, the vernacular will come.

I'm going to defer your second question to the teachers on this site.  What I will offer is that you don't need to "strangle" the club to hold it "firmly".  Firm is good.....but it needs to be without tension in the wrists and arms.

I'm sure @mvmac and @iacas can provide some drills and more specific guidance though.....

Thank you for the correction.  Ya I'm still trying to get the vernacular down for the particular shots.  I've started researching on youtube about grip drills and we'll see how that goes this weekend when I go out.  One is acutaly a drill everytime you take a shot just to "remind" yourself what the feel is.  Hopefully it helps.

It'll take more than a weekend, but you can make progress quickly.

We're talking 6 months a couple of times per week for real consistency.

I'm sure to see perminate results it'll deffinately take awhile, but hopefully I see at least a diffrence in feel on my shots. I golf 18 every weekend and practice just about daily in my backyard so hopefully it takes a little less then 6 months, but we'll see what happens.

You will drop at least 5 strokes next season if you dump the 60* and commit to using a chipper. I mean it.

Is this a legal club to use in tournaments? I read this and the one that Jason showed seems to have two faces which, I think is illegal?

If by Jason you really meant Ernest, then yes, the two sided ones are illegal but there are plenty of legals ones out there. In fact, I think two double faced ones are pretty hard to find new.

Yep, only a single "face" is allowed....a long time ago you used to see some with dual faces, but I haven't seen one of those in years.  Also, don't be tempted to put a "putter" type grip on it.  Other than that, completely legal.
