@Iacas Thanks. I've taken so much from this forum (your advice/videos, in particular) but I'm nowhere near the standard where I can add much myself, beyond expressions of gratitude and a recent purchase of LSW

This is a good thread.

In general for pitching under  110 yards, I play the ball forward in the stance off the left heel more like the driver ball position even in dry conditions, I think this promotes more of a shallow approach and I think its normally good to hit the turf about an inch before the ball.

in wet condition I have taken a 9iron and use with less bounce just play the ball for a lower trajectory.

actually advise the opposite more: move the ball a little forward. Leave your weight primarily on your front foot. Then you're free to move into (forward) the shot a little more, making it less likely you'll catch it heavy.

Hey Cool - I do this on most any short shots where I want my body to remain very still so I can try to make a clean contact....

Try using a 5-7 iron and do a bit of bump and run which won't bury your ball into the soft ground as easy as a wedge shot with higher lofts. Never know it might be helpful in those conditions.

    • Day 39: did top golf for an hour with the family. It was fun but also not really like real golf at all. Also did some mirror work - working on the backswing stuff mostly.
    • Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.
    • Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.
    • Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
